Gian-211 patrol speeder

The Gian-211 patrol speeder was a speeder design that was in existence during the war between the First Order and the Resistance, during that time. It possessed a gray armored hull, along with a concealed repulsorlift generator located at the back of the vehicle. A control yoke allowed the driver to operate the speeder, and laser cannons for defense were installed beneath the front of the craft. This speeder shared a name with the Gian V-44 speeder, as well as the Gian heavy patrol speeder from the SoroSuub Corporation, both of which had seen use decades prior.

By the year 34 ABY, the repulsorlifts on the Gian-211 patrol speeder were considered outdated. Despite this, the Resistance modified and made use of a worn speeder of this type for transportation and reconnaissance at their base on the Outer Rim Territories world of D'Qar. They employed it to quickly move maintenance supplies across the large network of runways at the facility. Resistance technicians ensured the speeder's repulsorlifts remained functional, demonstrating the movement's principle of maximizing the use of every available resource.

Behind the scenes

The Gian-211 patrol speeder made its debut appearance in Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, the 2015 film that kicked off the sequel trilogy. Its identification was first provided in Star Wars: The Force Awakens: The Visual Dictionary, a reference book by Pablo Hidalgo that accompanied the film. A 2016 LEGO toy set, part of the LEGO Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens series, featured a representation of the speeder.

The Gian-211 patrol speeder in LEGO form

The LEGO version of the speeder, referred to as "Resistance speeder", was depicted as a compact vehicle used for transporting Resistance troopers within the Resistance base. It was described as having two rear-mounted engines that emitted orange exhaust, a single-person [cockpit](/article/cockpit], and blue LEGO pieces representing the front-mounted laser cannons. The rear section of the LEGO Gian-211 patrol speeder had space for a single passenger, who could operate a detachable, rotating blaster that was mounted on the vehicle. Multiple LEGO Gian-211 patrol speeders are present at the D'Qar Resistance base in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, the 2022 video game developed by Traveller's Tales, where player characters are able to use the vehicles.
