Golrath

Golrath, situated in the Outer Rim, was a celestial body where the Unified Republic Task Force achieved victory over Nihil pirates in 231 BBY. By 2 BBY, it functioned as both a regional base of operations and a crucial sector for Senator Mon Mothma's organized rebellion opposing the Galactic Empire.

Description

Golrath was a land-based astronomical body that resided in the Outer Rim Territories.

History

Stellan Gios reports the victory on Golrath to his peers.

In the year 231 BBY, subsequent to a devastating attack by Nihil pirates on the Galactic Republic's Valo fair on the planet Valo, the Unified Republic Task Force engaged and triumphed against the Nihil on Golrath. Jedi Master Stellan Gios reported these victories against the Nihil on Golrath, Aris, and Port Haven to his Jedi Order colleagues and the Republic during a meeting concerning their campaign against the Nihil.

By 2 BBY, Golrath served as a headquarters for an organized rebellion against the Galactic Empire, secretly under the leadership of Senator Mon Mothma. A galaxy map dispatched to Mothma highlighted it among rebel safe worlds, starfighter hubs at level five or better, operations headquarters, shadow planets, and hidden space caches. The archivist Hendri Underholt eventually added the map to his collection of physical documents known as The Rebel Files.

Behind the scenes

Golrath's initial mention within the current Star Wars canon occurred in the 2017 reference book Star Wars: The Rebel Files, penned by Daniel Wallace. Originally from the Star Wars Legends continuity, the planet Golrath made its debut in the fiftieth issue of Marvel Comics' Star Wars comic-book series from 1977, authored by Archie Goodwin, with pencils by Al Williamson and Walter Simonson, and released on May 19, 1981.
