"Grievous Intrigue" marks the ninth installment of Season Two in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated television program. This episode was broadcast on January 1, 2010, following a month-long break, and serves as the initial part of a two-episode narrative.

Grievous' surrugator commences boarding operations on Master Eeth Koth's flagship known as the steadfast. Grievous, accompanied by his boarding party, including commando droids, enters the vessel. The invading forces eliminate the majority of Clone Captain Lock's and Horn company; however, Koth instructs his men to board escape pods, and then successfully defends against the commando droids and Grievous himself. Koth accuses Grievous of being a coward and a murderer, which prompts Grievous to respond that eliminating the Jedi is not murder, but rather a cleansing of the galaxy. Despite Koth's initial resistance, Grievous's MagnaGuards soon join the conflict, and Grievous ultimately overpowers Koth.
The Jedi located on Coruscant receive a transmission from Grievous, revealing his triumph over the Jedi by showcasing one of his MagnaGuards torturing Koth. Grievous declares his indifference to the Jedi's politics and their Republic, expressing his sole desire to witness their demise. Plo Koon and Clone Commander Wolffe observe a coded message conveyed through Koth's hand signals. Obi-Wan deciphers the message, revealing that Grievous' ship is situated within the Saleucami system. Consequently, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Adi Gallia embark on a mission to rescue Eeth Koth and apprehend Grievous. The ships under Kenobi's command, consisting of the light cruiser Surrogator, three frigates, and three cruisers, emerge from hyperspace as Grievous prepares to land on Saleucami, precisely as Grievous had anticipated. Grievous cautions his crew, noting that Skywalker is invariably present when Kenobi is involved. The Republic forces engage Grievous' fleet, initiating a space battle. Kenobi communicates with Grievous, leading Grievous to conclude that Kenobi intends to bring him to justice as always. Grievous employs a tractor beam to pull Kenobi's cruiser closer, while Anakin, having received updated coordinates, exits hyperspace directly beside Grievous' destroyer. He, along with Adi Gallia, Captain Rex, and a squad of clone troopers, infiltrate the flagship via surrugator.
Subsequently, the Surrogator experiences a boarding by commando droids. Obi-Wan and Commander Cody engage the commando droids initially, followed by Kenobi confronting the MagnaGuards and ultimately Grievous. Grievous informs Obi-Wan of his awareness of Skywalker's ongoing rescue mission. Ultimately, Grievous and his droids gain the upper hand over Kenobi. Anakin and Adi locate Koth, who is confined within a containment field, but Grievous's tactical droid, TV-94, anticipates their arrival and dispatches commando droids. The tactical droid then subjects Koth to electric shocks, but the Jedi successfully eliminate all droids present and free Koth.
Concurrently, the battle between Kenobi and Grievous persists, during which Kenobi questions what Grievous gains besides power, a disfigured body, and his position as Count Dooku's subordinate. Grievous retorts that he is not a subordinate, nor is he participating in the war for Dooku's political objectives. As Grievous proclaims his leadership of the most formidable droid army the galaxy has ever witnessed, Obi-Wan inquires about his intentions as the general of an army devoid of loyalty or spirit. Grievous responds that he seeks a future...a future devoid of Jedi. Obi-Wan utilizes the Force to push Grievous through a window and offers him an opportunity to surrender, but Grievous escapes.
Obi-Wan informs Anakin and Adi, the latter of whom moves to intercept Grievous while Anakin transports Koth to his shuttle. Despite the two ships remaining connected, Grievous issues orders to target the Republic light cruiser's engines and proceeds to his own vessel. Cody and the remaining members of his unit attempt to restrain Grievous, but the general overpowers them. In the docking tube, Kenobi and Cody catch up to him, but Grievous escapes once more. Grievous reaches his destroyer, where Adi Gallia engages him in a brief duel, before the docking tube is breached, resulting in a powerful suction. Obi-wan is nearly pulled out, but Cody saves him by grabbing his hand. Grievous ascends to his ship using his metallic claws, and Gallia extends a cable to Cody, an unnamed 212th clone, and Kenobi, enabling them to reach safety. Subsequently, Anakin retrieves Obi-Wan, Adi, Cody, and the unnamed clone from the destroyer's hangar using his shuttle.
Grievous and his ship's infantry droids board a landing ship destined for Saleucami, and the Republic light cruiser eventually detonates. Regrettably, a collision with debris causes the landing ship to lose control and rapidly descend towards Saleucami. Obi-Wan then intends to land on Saleucami with Rex and Cody to search for Grievous while Anakin resolves the space battle. Upon the rescue shuttle's arrival at the Resolute's hangar, Eeth expresses gratitude for the rescue, despite stating that he would have sacrificed his life to bring Grievous to justice. Anakin, however, asserts that they live to fight another day. Adi then escorts Koth to a medical frigate, and Obi-Wan prepares his forces for the search on Saleucami.
