A planetary body served as the point of origin, the original home, for the Grysk species, a warlike people who at one time established the Grysk Hegemony. The Grysks aimed to conquer both the Unknown Regions and the space surrounding their point of origin, as well as the territory of the Chiss Ascendancy. Circa 18 BBY, a Grysk fleet suffered destruction at the hands of Chiss Senior Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo, who commanded a mission to the border of the Unknown Regions in an attempt to locate the Grysks after their fleet's annihilation. However, he discovered no trace of their location.
The senior captain faced banishment due to his actions during the battle against the Grysk fleet, subsequently joining the Galactic Empire and rising to the rank of Grand Admiral. Thrawn made efforts to locate the planetary body while engaged in combat with Grysk forces between 2 and 1 BBY; however, his attempts proved unsuccessful. Although Ascendancy Admiral Ar'alani inflicted a significant setback on the Hegemony, the Grysk homeworld remained undiscovered.
The Grysk homeworld was a celestial body situated far within the Unknown Regions. Chiss Grand Admiral Mitth'raw'nuruodo, also known by his core name "Thrawn," believed it was not situated too deeply within the Regions. This was because it was assumed that the Grysks' primary power base would be located at a considerable distance from their operations within the Galactic Empire's territory beyond the Unknown Regions.

The Grysk warlike species' nation, the Grysk Hegemony, had the goal to seize the Unknown Regions area surrounding the Grysk celestial body and also operated in the Empire's territory. During the war between the Empire and the Hegemony, Thrawn, who had been ostracized from the Chiss Ascendancy after he vanquished a Grysk fleet in a battle over the Unknown Regions planet Sunrise, tried to locate the homeworld on the Unknown Regions' border, but was unsuccessful.
After enlisting with the Empire and achieving the rank of grand admiral, he hoped to discover the homeworld's location by examining Grysk artwork, with the assumption that the Grysk base was a significant distance from the Outer Rim Territories planet Mokivj. His intention was to subsequently eliminate the Grysks' threat to both the Ascendancy and the Empire once he had found it.
In 2 BBY, Thrawn and the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader encountered Grysk forces on Mokivj and engaged them in multiple battles both there and in other locations throughout the galaxy while searching for the Grysk homeworld. Although Thrawn did not find the world, Chiss Admiral Ar'alani ultimately dealt a critical blow to the Hegemony.
The homeworld was inhabited by the Grysk species and the Grysk Hegemony, the nation of the warlike species.
The homeworld was referenced in the 2018 novel Thrawn: Alliances, the second installment in the Star Wars: Thrawn novel series written by Timothy Zahn.
