The Hovsgol Januul formed a particular division within the Januul Alwari overclan situated on Ansion. Their most respected elders held positions in the councils, which were only superseded in authority by the governing overclan of the Borokii, a group they had been in continuous conflict with for many generations. The Hovsgol Januul warriors were regarded as the most skilled among all the Januul and its related subclans.
During 22 BBY, at the end of the Jedi mission to Ansion, an exceptional Alwari honor guard was presented to the Jedi diplomats from Coruscant. These diplomats had arrived to broker an agreement between the Ansionian city dwellers and the Alwari tribes. This agreement was intended to shield the planet from secession and guarantee its continued membership in the Galactic Republic.
This honor guard, tasked with closely protecting the Jedi at all times until the representatives of the Unity of Community had concluded the Ansionian secession vote, consisted of not just the Hovsgol Januul's best soldiers, but also the most skilled from the Situng Borokii, the foremost subclan of the Borokii, which was the Januul-overclan's rival.
In the Cuipernam skirmish against Soergg, the Hutt's mercenary hunters and snipers, the Hovsgol Januul warriors fought alongside their former tribal enemies, now their elite comrades, of the Situng Borokii. The Jedi were able to defeat their attackers and eventually meet with the Unity Council, who accepted the Alwari accord, because of the honor guard's brave defense. Ansion then voted to remain in the Republic, allowing the Jedi to successfully conclude a vital mission.
