The Imperial Enforcement DataCore served as a source to obtain details concerning the law enforcement operations conducted by the Galactic Empire and its agents. This resource could be accessed on the planet of Lothal from a posting agency; however, access was restricted to authorized Imperial personnel and bounty hunters with proper licensing.
Bossk, a bounty hunter, discovered a bounty listing for Gronson Takkaro on the DataCore. After being deceived by an Imperial agent, Jenkes, who was pretending to be Lieutenant Herdringer, Bossk went to the posting agency located at the Capital City spaceport, seeking additional information. Using the DataCore at that location cost fifteen credits per hour or twenty-five credits for the entire day. Bossk's DataCore investigation revealed that Herdringer had died three months prior, having been struck by a speeder bus, and that Jenkes had taken his place. A RA-7 protocol droid, pre-programmed by Jenkes to monitor for such activity, flagged Bossk's search of Jenkes's private and military records.
The Imperial Enforcement DataCore made its initial appearance in "Elusive," an adventure module designed for the Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game, 2nd ed., and in the Galaxywide NewsNets materials featured in the Star Wars Adventure Journals. Within these publications, the DataCore was presented as a simple directory of criminals sought by the Empire. This interpretation of the DataCore is now considered part of the "Star Wars Legends" continuity, rather than being considered part of the official canon.
