Ion Team comprised a group of clone commandos assigned to the 22nd Air Combat Wing.
Ion Team consisted of four commandos: Captain Climber, Trace, Ras, and a munitions expert whose name is unknown.
The team participated in the Battle of Deko Neimoidia, fighting alongside Jedi General Roan Shryne. Subsequently, they were deployed from Boz Pity to engage in the Battle of Murkhana.
Upon receiving Order 66 from Chancellor Palpatine, Ion Team chose not to execute Roan Shryne, Bol Chatak, and Padawan Olee Starstone, interpreting it as a deceptive signal from the enemy. They proceeded to rescue the Jedi from an impending ambush orchestrated by the forces of Commander Salvo, accomplishing this by staging a counter-ambush that facilitated the Jedi's escape.
Later, Darth Vader arrived on Murkhana and killed two members of the team. Captain Climber and Trace managed to flee into Murkhana's dense forested hills. Vader then gave the order for his troops to capture the commandos and bring them back to him alive. After Vader killed Bol Chatak, a clone shock trooper informed him that the commandos had been apprehended, and he sent them to be imprisoned on Agon Nine.
