Jaiyna Sibinth, a human specializing in xenolinguistics, made frequent visits to the Festival of the Ancestors held by the Aki-Aki on Pasaana. Her purpose was to study the ancient language of the Aki-Aki. Sibinth observed that similar themes and symbols appeared in the cultures of various desert planets, including Cona, Klatooine, Sriluur, and Tatooine.
The character of Jaiyna Sibinth was initially seen in the 2019 Star Wars movie, Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker. Her identity was first revealed in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary, a companion book to the film authored by Pablo Hidalgo. While the main text spells Sibinth's first name as Jaiyna, the index of the book lists it as "Jaina." When asked about the correct spelling, Matt Martin of the Lucasfilm Story Group suggested prioritizing the spelling used in the character's entry over the index. He also pointed out that this spelling differentiated Sibinth from the Star Wars Legends character, Jaina Solo.
Raiyah bint Hussein, a Princess from the royal family of Jordan, portrayed Sibinth. The Pasaana scenes were filmed in Jordan's Wadi Rum desert. Similar to the character she played, Raiyah bint Hussein is an academic pursuing a PhD at the University of California, Los Angeles as of November 2019. The character's name was inspired by the princess' own name.
