Sriluur, situated in the Outer Rim Territories of the galaxy within the Hutt Space region, was a planet characterized by its desert environment. It served as the original homeworld for the Weequays, a species known for their resilient, leathery skin which enabled them to withstand the planet's challenging conditions, and also the Sriluurian butterfly.
The Hutt Cartel, under the control of the Hutts originating from the nearby Nal Hutta, successfully conquered Sriluur. Consequently, the Weequays were forced into roles as either slaves or vassals. Delwin, an Elder of the Path of the Open Hand came from Sriluur; following Marda Ro's (a Guide) inspiring vision for the Path's future, he suggested establishing a new Path community on Sriluur. However, Delwin's life was cut short during the Battle of Jedha, leaving Ro with a sense of remorse. The pirate Hondo Ohnaka, who led the Ohnaka Gang, was a male Weequay who hailed from this very planet.
The initial mention of Sriluur occurred in "The Greel Wood Haven," an article authored by Craig Robert Carey and featured in Star Wars Adventure Journal 6, which saw its release in May of 1995. Its status as canon was solidified through its inclusion in Ultimate Star Wars, a reference book from 2015 that was collaboratively written by Patricia Barr, Adam Bray, Daniel Wallace, and Ryder Windham.
