Jobal Naberrie

Jobal Naberrie was a human female hailing from the planet of Naboo. As a member of the Naberrie family, she held the role of mother to both Sola Naberrie and Padmé Amidala. Her younger daughter, Padmé Naberrie by birth before taking on the name Amidala, went on to serve as queen and subsequently as the representative for their homeworld within the Galactic Senate during the latter period of the Galactic Republic.

Biography

Early life

Jobal entered into matrimony with a man named Ruwee Naberrie, and their union resulted in the birth of two daughters, named Sola and Padmé Naberrie.

Ruwee and Jobal Naberrie dedicated the initial years of their lives to helping construct a small, secluded village nestled within Naboo's mountain ranges, alongside their daughters Padmé and Sola. Ruwee, a strong and capable individual, was a proficient builder and an essential contributor to all construction projects. Despite the emotional investment and physical labor that she and Jobal poured into the village during its establishment, they both came to the conclusion that their two young daughters, who had been born there, would benefit more from growing up amidst the cosmopolitan atmosphere of Theed. Consequently, they made the decision to leave the village while their children were still young and relocate to Naboo's capital city.

They selected a sturdy house with an elegant design that Ruwee had long admired, a house that had witnessed numerous generations and the many transformations that Naboo had undergone. The home exuded a sense of permanence and reflected Naboo's enduring values of generosity and community spirit. The fact that their elder daughter, Sola, resided nearby and could visit them almost daily was also a factor in their decision. Her proximity provided comfort, especially given Padmé's frequent travels as a politician, which brought him joy.

When Padmé reached the age of fourteen, she achieved election to the position of Queen of Naboo and adopted the name "Padmé Amidala." Successful and popular, she served for two year terms, including the period of the Invasion of Naboo. Although she had intended to retire from public service, Padmé was requested by her successor, Réillata, to represent Naboo in the Senate. On that very day, she communicated her decision to Ruwee and Jobal.

In 28 BBY, Jobal's daughter Sola gave birth to her first child, named Ryoo, thus making Jobal a grandmother. Shortly before the outbreak of the Clone Wars, her daughter Padmé Amidala and Anakin Skywalker paid them a visit.

Death of Padmé

In 19 BBY, in the aftermath of the Clone Wars and the implementation of Order 66, Jobal, Ruwee, and Sola were present at the funeral of Padmé following her demise at Polis Massa.

Personality and traits

Jobal Naberrie possessed brown hair, brown eyes, and fair skin.

Equipment

During her daughter's funeral service, Jobal was dressed in a black robe and a black mourning cloak, with the somber colors reflecting the family's grief and sorrow over Amidala's passing.

Behind the scenes

In scenes that were ultimately removed from Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones, Jobal Naberrie was established as Padmé Amidala's mother. She was played by Trisha Noble, who later reprised the role for Amidala's funeral in Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith.
