Réillata, a female human hailing from the planet Naboo, was born circa 51 BBY. She held the position of monarch for the Naboo people on two separate occasions. Her initial term spanned approximately two years around 36 BBY, during the youth of Padmé Amidala, who would later become a queen of Naboo. Following her departure from the throne, she transitioned into a moderately successful career as an opera performer. Her subsequent term commenced in 28 BBY, after Amidala's four-year rule concluded. Réillata decided to campaign once more, emphasizing the experience and stability she had gained over the years. Despite being an older candidate than typically favored, she was elected as queen again, triumphing over Jamillia.
Around 51 BBY, Réillata's birth occurred. When Eirtaé, a future handmaiden, was still a young girl, Réillata was chosen as Queen of the planet Naboo. Although her reign wasn't poor, Réillata opted not to seek re-election after serving for two years. She enjoyed her time as queen and assisting others, but by the conclusion of her reign, she had convinced herself that she wasn't contributing enough, and shifted her attention to opera. Réillata then became a moderately successful opera singer.
Years later, while performing, Réillata came to the realization that her reasoning was flawed. She possessed the ability to perform arias for hundreds, was a skilled listener and speaker, and believed she could connect with numerous individuals. Réillata discussed the prospect of resuming her political career with her family, and following Queen Padmé Amidala's completion of two two-year terms, Réillata launched another campaign to be elected Queen. She succeeded, defeating Jamillia.
During the ceremony marking the transfer of political authority from Amidala to Réillata, Réillata announced the retirement of Senator Oshadam from the Galactic Senate. Oshadam had served following Naboo's previous senator, Sheev Palpatine, who had become Supreme Chancellor of the Republic. She requested Amidala to represent Naboo and the other planets within the Chommell sector in the Senate, a proposition Amidala eventually accepted.
Similar to her predecessor, Réillata was attended by several handmaidens, including her young niece. When Amidala briefly returned to Naboo after a week-long stay on Alderaan, Réillata welcomed her and her entourage back in the palace throne room. During a private discussion, Réillata encouraged Amidala to return to the Senate and explained her decision to seek the queenship again.
While a queen in her early twenties might be considered youthful in many parts of the galaxy, Réillata's age was greater than tradition dictated on Naboo, and she based her campaign on the experience and stability her age gave her. Like her opponent Jamillia, Réillata shared Amidala's views on planetary defense, particularly regarding projects like the ion pulse that remained unfinished during Amidala's tenure. Réillata also demonstrated understanding regarding the time Amidala required with her family upon her return from Coruscant.
As the handmaiden Saché observed Réillata's second coronation, she noted that Réillata donned the red dress signifying Naboo sovereignty, but she thought, somewhat disloyally, that Réillata lacked Amidala's inherent kindness. Saché grudgingly acknowledged Réillata's ability to make her composure and steady pace appear purposeful.
Réillata was taller than Amidala and had short hair.
Réillata's initial appearance within the new Star Wars canon occurred in the 2019 novel Queen's Shadow by E. K. Johnston, where her reign is established as following Padmé Amidala and preceding Jamillia. In Star Wars Legends, Jamillia's reign commenced directly after Amidala's ended.
Arden Cho, an actress, served as E. K. Johnston's inspiration for Réillata's physical characteristics while writing Queen's Shadow.
