Lafete, situated in the Tunka sector of the Outer Rim Territories, was a terrestrial planet characterized by its desert landscape. The surface of Lafete was dotted with numerous factories, and it was also home to the city known as Port of Lafete. During 9 ABY, the Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin, accompanied by his associate Boba Fett, made a visit to a local diner, where they encountered the Mandalorian Nite Owls Bo-Katan Kryze and Koska Reeves. Djarin's objective was to enlist the aid of the two Nite Owls in his endeavor to rescue his foundling Grogu from the clutches of the Imperial Moff Gideon. However, Fett expressed his skepticism towards the Nite Owls, leading to a verbal exchange of insults. This disagreement escalated into a physical altercation between Reeves and Fett, which was eventually quelled by Kryze, who then agreed to assist Djarin in his mission.
Following this encounter, the group gathered outside the diner aboard Fett's Slave I, a Firespray-31-class patrol and attack craft, to strategize their plan alongside Djarin's other allies and their prisoner, the Imperial Doctor Penn Pershing. Subsequently, they embarked on their journey to locate Gideon's light cruiser.
Lafete made its debut appearance in "Chapter 16: The Rescue" of The Mandalorian, a Disney+ television series created by Jon Favreau in 2019. The episode, directed by Peyton Reed, was released on December 18, 2020. The planet's identification was later confirmed in the 2021 reference book Star Wars: The Mandalorian Handbook, authored by Matt Jones.
