In the year 0 ABY, a team was assembled by the smuggler Lando Calrissian. The purpose of this team was to pilfer the Imperialis, which was the personal opulent vessel belonging to the Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine. This theft was intended to resolve Calrissian's financial obligations to the crime syndicate leader Papa Toren. This team was comprised of Calrissian, his associate Lobot, Sava Korin Pers who formerly attended the University of Bar'leth, as well as the genetically duplicated killers Aleksin and Pavol.
Following the successful taking of the Imperialis by the team, Lobot sustained injuries inflicted by a pair of Emperor's Royal Guard. These guards were positioned on the starship to safeguard Sith relics that Palpatine had kept stored there, including the mask that belonged to the Sith Lord Momin. The Sith mask had a corrupting influence on the two assassins, ultimately leading them to murder Pers. Subsequently, Calrissian and Chanath Cha, a pursuit hunter and former romantic partner of Lobot, eliminated the assassins. Palpatine had employed Cha with instructions to either obliterate the ship or seize the team. Cha ultimately opted to trigger the self-destruction system of the vessel and destroy the ship, rather than capture her former comrades. Calrissian and Lobot managed to make their escape using an emergency pod just before the Imperialis was obliterated.
