Lirin Car'n, a Bith of the male persuasion, served as a substitute kloo horn player within the ranks of Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes. Being the offspring of the celebrated kloo horn virtuoso Lirin D'avi, he possessed significant musical talent, yet harbored a deep aversion to performing music professionally. He found himself with the Modal Nodes on Tatooine during the year 0 BBY, providing musical entertainment at both Jabba's Palace and Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina.
Born as the son of Lirin D'avi, Lirin Car'n entered the world with a legacy already in place. His father was a musician of great renown, and many Bith considered him to be the greatest kloo horn player of all time. Eventually, Car'n followed in his father's path, and upon his father's death, he inherited his kloo horn.
Eventually, Car'n became a member of the band known as Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes, which was under the leadership of the quirky Figrin D'an. However, Car'n's feelings toward his bandleader and bandmates soured, and he also grew to dislike the itinerant lifestyle that came with being a musician.

D'an, whose habit of booking gigs without consulting the band made him difficult to deal with, arranged for them to perform on the Outer Rim world of Tatooine. He promised them that the job would be lucrative and would only last for a standard week. However, D'an failed to mention that he had a bounty on his head. When Greedo, a Rodian bounty hunter, found him, he sold the band into indentured servitude to settle his debt. The job, which was actually for Jabba Desilijic Tiure, a Hutt crime lord, extended for more than a year, which further strained the relationship between the band and its leader.
However, by 0 BBY, D'an managed to secure the band's freedom by exposing Greedo's clandestine activities to Jabba. They made their way to the spaceport of Mos Eisley. Instead of leaving the planet, however, D'an arranged for the band to perform at Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina.
At some point, Car'n accumulated a debt to Greedo. Desperate for credits, he intended to sell his father's kloo horn in Mos Eisley. However, before he could do so, he became drunk and lost the horn to Myo, an Abyssin, in a card game. Unbeknownst to Car'n, Myo also became intoxicated and lost the horn when Muftak, a Talz pickpocket, stole it. Now without the horn to sell to the Rodian loan shark, Car'n hired Djas Puhr, a Sakiyan bounty hunter, to recover it. Although Puhr had also been hired by Myo to retrieve the horn, Car'n promised him a payment of two hundred credits in exchange for it.

Greedo found Car'n, accompanied by hired muscle, specifically Cornelius Evazan and Ponda Baba. Despite Car'n's lack of money, Greedo granted him clemency, partly due to Car'n's pleas for mercy and also because Greedo was focused on his mission to eliminate Han Solo, a smuggler, who was also present in Chalmun's Cantina at that time.
Eventually, Puhr obtained the horn from an individual known as The Scrapper, who had acquired it from Kabe, Muftak's companion, after she sold it to pay off a loan to Ackmena. Car'n confronted the group of pickpockets, thieves, and scoundrels at a table in the cantina. During the heated discussion, it became clear that much of the group's complicated scheme stemmed from Solo's failure to deliver his cargo of narcotics to Muftak. However, Puhr convinced the group to spare the smuggler's life, promising to settle all the debts himself.
Although Greedo proceeded with his attempt to assassinate Solo, his efforts were thwarted by the arrival of Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, a Jedi Master, in the cantina. During an altercation, they incapacitated Baba and Evazan. Without his henchmen, Greedo confronted Solo alone and met his demise. With Car'n now free from debt, Puhr returned his kloo horn, resolving the situation.
