A human female named Ackmena held the position of nighttime bartender at Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina, situated in the Mos Eisley spaceport on Tatooine. In addition to this, she had a secret arrangement with two local pickpockets, Kabe and Muftak.
Ackmena, a human female, resided on the Outer Rim world of Tatooine, specifically on the Delkin Ridge, alongside her spouse, Sorschi. Her employment involved working the night shift as a bartender at Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina, a cantina in Mos Eisley's spaceport owned by the Wookiee, Chalmun. Wuher was her daytime counterpart at the bar. Ackmena's affable demeanor contributed to her greater popularity compared to Wuher.
Ackmena also ran her own "side hustle", where she collected "rent" from Kabe and Muftak. These two pickpockets lived in the vast, rocky tunnels beneath the cantina. They frequently earned money from the bar's intoxicated patrons. She would then give the money to Chalmun, the owner, while keeping a cut for herself.

Despite their scheme, the Talz and Chadra-Fan pair frequently struggled to make their payments. This caused Ackmena to feel sorry for them, but she also knew that Chalmun would use this as an excuse to get rid of the "infestation in his pipes." On one day in 0 BBY, this happened, and Ackmena warned the pair that she required the money by that evening, hinting at the possible repercussions. On the same day, Ackmena was in Chalmun's office, asking for better working hours. Later that night, after relieving Wuher at the bar, she received the funds from Kabe and Muftak, who had sold the kloo horn belonging to Lirin Car'n, a musician in the in-house cantina band. She then served Muftak drinks with his remaining money until she finally stopped serving him.
Ackmena was well-regarded by many, including Wuher, who was generally grumpy. He considered her a "tough old broad." However, even when Kabe and Muftak were broke, she appeared to sympathize with them. She knew that Chalmun would be very unhappy, but she still gave them a day to get the money to pay off their debt. Her friendly nature made her more well-liked than Wuher. Ackmena was attracted to women, and she married Sorschi, with whom she lived on the Delkin Ridge.
Ackmena's character initially appeared in 1978 in The Star Wars Holiday Special, portrayed by Bea Arthur. Her initial mention in canon occurred in the 2016 reference book titled Star Wars: Complete Locations. Later, she was featured in the short story "The Kloo Horn Cantina Caper" within the 2017 short-story collection, From a Certain Point of View.
