Lusa

Lusa was a Chironian woman from the planet Chiron, as detailed in Legends material. After abandoning the Diversity Alliance, she became a member of the New Jedi Order. During the Yuuzhan Vong War, she met her death at the hands of a voxyn.

Biography

Captivity

Lusa, as a young Chironian, was kidnapped by the Empire Reborn and held on Lord Hethrir's worldcraft. There, she was forced to attend a "school" that promoted Empire Reborn ideology. Human captives, including the Helper Vram, subjected her to bullying and speciesist remarks about her horns. In 14 ABY, she encountered Jaina and Jacen, the abducted children of Leia Organa Solo, the Chief of State of the New Republic.

After failing a Force-sensitivity test, deliberately rigged by Hethrir to prevent non-Humans from demonstrating Force abilities by suppressing their Force abilities, Lusa was condemned to slavery despite Jaina's objections. Later, during the confrontation at Crseih Station between the Solos, Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca, and Hethrir's Empire Reborn, Lusa escaped and aided the Solo twins and Chewbacca by attacking several Proctors and Empire Youth.

Following the Empire Reborn's defeat, she was liberated and returned to her homeworld and family. However, the experience instilled in her a prejudice against Humans that she would carry for many years. Even her family struggled to understand her suffering, and she found it difficult to form friendships or trust anyone until she encountered the Diversity Alliance.

Diversity Alliance

Around 22 ABY, Lusa encountered members of the Diversity Alliance, an organization advocating for alien rights. They shared her experiences of humanocentrism from Humans, especially Imperials, and her animosity toward them. Believing that they were striving to improve the galaxy for non-Human species and finding a sense of community, she joined their ranks and became further influenced by their propaganda, which blamed Humans for all the galaxy's problems.

As she climbed the ranks of the Diversity Alliance, the leader Nolaa Tarkona assigned her to clandestine operations, including rescuing aliens, freeing slaves, and deposing leaders who opposed the Alliance. Around 24 ABY, she was tasked with sabotaging the navicomputers of a Human-crewed geological survey ship that had accidentally destroyed a forest on the planet Kaisa, leading to the extinction of the insectoid Buro people. Her mission was to disable the vessel's navicomputer, causing it to become lost upon exiting hyperspace.

However, after the mission, she experienced remorse upon seeing that one of the geologists had a teenage daughter. Realizing the truth and shedding her indoctrination, Lusa approached them as they were loading the sabotaged navicomputer, confessed to her actions, and surrendered herself to their judgment. Instead of seeking revenge, the geologists forgave her and repaired the device.

Subsequently, the geologists offered her transportation to any destination she desired. She chose to go to Coruscant to contact either Leia Organa Solo, who had been re-elected as Chief of State, or Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, the head of the Jedi Praxeum on Yavin 4, and expose the true nature of the Diversity Alliance, which now considered her a traitor. From there, she traveled to Yavin 4.

At Skywalker's Jedi academy, she befriended him, the Solo twins, and formed a connection with Raynar Thul. She revealed the deceptive nature of the Diversity Alliance and narrowly escaped death when an undercover Bothan Alliance member shot her with a tranquilizer while she was resting in a river. Fortunately, Skywalker rescued her and apprehended the assassin.

Lusa accompanied a Senate team from the New Republic as they investigated claims against the Diversity Alliance regarding the stockpiling of weapons for a war against Humans and the New Republic. Following the Alliance's defeat, she remained at the academy to develop her Force healing powers and become a Jedi.
