Mai was a Jedi Master of the Zabrak species, and she dedicated her service to the New Jedi Order throughout the Second Imperial Civil War. Having made it through the terrible events of the Jedi Purge, Mai journeyed to the Hidden Jedi Temple and resided there circa 130 ABY. The Jedi Master was present to provide assistance to Azlyn Rae while Cade Skywalker along with Shado Vao were in discussion with the Jedi Council.
As Jariah Syn identified Master Rasi Tuum, the Jedi responsible for the death of his father, he began to retreat slowly from the others. Concerned by this, Master Mai pursued him, inquiring if he was feeling unwell. Syn then shouted at Mai, demanding she leave him alone, and then struck her, causing her to lose consciousness.
