Mandalorian initiation ritual

A Mandalorian initiation ritual represented a key ceremony within the Mandalorian Creed, characterized by a Mandalorian's recitation of the Creed's tenets while submerged in water. Adherents to the Way of the Mandalore also pledged a lifetime commitment to keeping their helmets on. When conducted within the Living Waters located in the Mines of Mandalore, this ritual served as a means of redemption for apostates who, having removed their helmets, faced exile from the Children of the Watch.

When princess Bo-Katan Kryze was a young girl, she underwent the ritual in the Living Waters, watched by her father along with the subjects of the Mandalorian royal family. She received many presents and made her father proud. Kryze viewed the ritual as simply a performance for their people and a tale for children. She also did not think the waters had any magical properties.

Ragnar creed Ragnar participates in the formal initiation ritual, held in the Living Waters of Mandalore

During the New Republic era, the Children of the Watch conducted the ritual in bodies of water close to a Mandalorian covert to bring Ragnar into their group. However, a Dinosaur turtle disrupted the proceedings with an attack. Not long after this, Din Djarin underwent the ritual in the Living Waters located deep within the Mines of Mandalore to atone for having taken off his helmet. Bo-Katan Kryze, who was in the Waters when she saved Djarin after he had fallen into them, was also seen as redeemed, even though she did not say the words of the Creed.
