Massacre of a Tusken Raider tribe

A devastating act, the annihilation of a Tusken Raider tribe, occurred around the time of 5 ABY, perpetrated by the criminal organization known as the Pyke Syndicate. These Pykes utilized CC-420 pistols in order to carry out the slaughter of the entire tribe.

Upon Boba Fett's return to the Tusken camp, following a conversation with a Pyke boss located in Mos Eisley, he made the grim discovery that numerous members of the tribe had been killed. Furthermore, the symbol associated with the Nikto gang, the Kintan Striders, was found painted on one of the tents within their camp. Subsequently, Fett came to the aid of Fennec Shand, and upon recounting the details of the massacre, Shand expressed her skepticism regarding the Nikto speeder bikers' ability to independently execute such a large-scale attack against the entire Tusken tribe. Following Fett and Shand's recovery of the ship known as the Slave I, they launched an attack against the Kintan Striders in an act of revenge for the deaths of the Tuskens. Later on, the Pyke boss confessed to Cad Bane that the Pykes were responsible for the killing of the Tuskens, and they framed the speeder bike gang for it. Soon after, Bane revealed this information to Fett.

Behind the scenes

The tragic massacre of Boba Fett's Tusken Raider tribe was initially alluded to through its aftermath, depicted in flashback sequences within "Chapter 3: The Streets of Mos Espa," which served as the third episode of The Book of Boba Fett, a series available on the Disney+ streaming platform, premiering on January 12, 2022. The revelation that the Pyke Syndicate was the true perpetrator behind the massacre was later disclosed in the series' concluding episode, "Chapter 7: In the Name of Honor," which aired on February 9, 2022. An article titled "World Building," penned by James Floyd and featured in the Insider issue 227 of Star Wars Insider magazine, published on August 27, 2024, claimed that the Pykes had engaged the Kintan Striders to carry out the massacre on their behalf. However, the episode "In the Name of Honor" clarifies that the Pyke Syndicate themselves executed the attack, merely shifting the blame onto the Kintan Striders.
