The Matale estate, located on Dantooine, served as the home for the Matale family. Ahlan Matale, along with his son Shen, resided there as its owner.
Around 3956 BBY, towards the end of the Jedi Civil War, a strike force led by Darth Malak launched an offensive against the Jedi Enclave vicinity, including the adjacent Rakatan ruins. The Matale estate suffered damage during this assault, and the status of those living there remains a mystery.
Over time, the Khoonda, the planet's somewhat organized governing body, took control of the estate and rebuilt it. The building itself was then called Khoonda and became the center for governing activities.
In 3951 BBY, the Jedi Exile famously aided in protecting Khoonda by driving back Azkul and his band of mercenaries who were trying to grab control of the government for the Exchange. This clash eventually became known as the Battle of Khoonda.
Kaevee stated that all Matale family members died and their estate was destroyed by fire when Darth Revan's Sith Empire attacked Dantooine. However, because this was removed from the final version of the game, it is considered non-canon.
