In the year 34 ABY, a special mechanic's code was conceived by a Nikto, Neeku Vozo, and a human, Tamara Ryvora. These mechanics, who all worked on the Colossus station, designed this code to secretly discuss the mechanical ineptitude of their fellow mechanic, Kazuda Xiono. This communication method utilized a series of beeps and whistles and was also intended to serve as a quick way to communicate in emergency situations.
Later in that same year, Ryvora used her comlink to send a coded message to Xiono's comlink through the MSE droid 5-L. The message requested a meeting on the planet Castilon in three cycles. Xiono, confused by the sounds from his comlink, needed Vozo to clarify that the message was in the code they had both developed. Vozo then explained the origins of the code, which shocked Xiono, although he was more concerned with understanding the message. Vozo proceeded to translate the message into Basic for Xiono.
The code's initial mention occurred in the first part of "The Escape," a two-part episode that served as the finale for the second season of the animated television series Star Wars Resistance. This episode aired on January 26, 2020. Originally, the script had Ryvora contacting Xiono using Kada'sa'Niktoese, Vozo's native language. However, this was changed to foster a more intimate exchange between the characters.
