The lightsaber used by Meetra Surik was the signature weapon carried by Meetra Surik, a Jedi Knight better known as the Jedi Exile.
Before the outbreak of the Mandalorian Wars, Meetra Surik constructed her unique Jedi lightsaber. Throughout the conflict, she wielded it against the Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders who were then sweeping across the galaxy, participating in battles such as the engagements at Eres III, Onderon, Dxun, Duro, and ultimately, the pivotal Battle of Malachor V.
Following the conclusion of the war, Surik was summoned back to the Jedi Temple to be held accountable for her actions during the fighting. Despite her passionate defense, the Jedi High Council determined that her decision to follow Revan into war warranted her being cast out from the Jedi Order. As an act of defiance when they demanded she surrender her lightsaber, she plunged it into the central stone of the High Council Chamber. In the years that followed, the weapon was secured within the Jedi Enclave located on Dantooine.
When the Jedi Civil War erupted, Jedi Master Atris, a historian, evacuated the majority of the Jedi historical artifacts, which included holocrons and Surik's lightsaber, to the academy on Telos IV in anticipation of a potential attack. Five years afterward, Meetra Surik encountered Atris on Telos while searching for the Lost Jedi. The Jedi Master declined to give back the lightsaber, since it had become a symbol of the Mandalorian Wars' violence corrupted by the Dark side. However, the Exile later discovered that Atris had, in fact, fallen and become a Dark Jedi. Meetra Surik went back to the Academy and fought successfully with the historian in a lightsaber duel, enabling her to reclaim her initial lightsaber.
Cut content: It was originally intended that Atris would wield the Exile's first lightsaber against her during their battle, asserting that the weapon no longer belonged to her.
The lightsaber can be customized through a discussion with Atton Rand; the player has the option to configure it as a single-bladed or double-bladed weapon and select the color of the crystal. Regardless of the player's choices, Atris will reveal the lightsaber during her conversation with the Exile. If the player chooses not to discuss the lightsaber with Atton, it will default to a single-bladed configuration with a cyan blade (interestingly, this color is not available as an option in the dialogue choices).
