This Jedi was a member affiliated with the Jedi Order during the era preceding the Mandalorian Wars. Notably, this Jedi served as the Master who guided the Jedi Knight Meetra Surik, providing instruction to her on the world of Dantooine, the location of a Jedi Enclave. When Surik had a disagreement with the Padawan of Jedi Master Vrook Lamar, this Master chose not to intervene. Ultimately, Surik departed from the Master's guidance and opposed the Jedi Council by participating in the Mandalorian Wars, a conflict involving the Galactic Republic against the Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders.

During the period of the Mandalorian Wars, a certain Jedi existed, who trained Meetra Surik as their Padawan on the planet Dantooine, where a Jedi Enclave was situated. Following a heated exchange between Surik and the Padawan of Jedi Master Vrook Lamar, Lamar approached Surik's Master, requesting disciplinary action for her behavior. The Master declined, prompting Lamar to seek intervention from Master Vandar Tokare, who also refused, stating that the matter was outside Lamar's jurisdiction. Surik eventually abandoned her Master's teachings and defied the Jedi High Council by aligning herself with the Jedi Knights Revan and Malak's faction of Jedi in the Mandalorian Wars, a widespread galaxy-wide conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders.
During the Dark Wars occurring in 3951 BBY, Surik, in her quest to locate and reunite the Jedi Masters who had survived the Sith Triumvirate's campaign against the Jedi Order's remnants, discovered and repaired a battered protocol droid near the Khoonda outpost on Dantooine after she exited her ship, the Ebon Hawk. The droid then played back a holorecording of a conversation between Jedi Masters Lamar and Vandar Tokare concerning the disagreement between Lamar's Padawan and Surik, and the lack of intervention from Surik's Master.
This Jedi was first referenced in the video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, which was released in 2004 and developed by Obsidian Entertainment. If the player, known as the Exile in the game, repaired a damaged protocol droid outside of Khoonda on Dantooine, the droid would present a holorecording of a conversation between Vrook Lamar and Vandar Tokare about the main character. In this discussion, the character's Jedi Master is mentioned. The Knights of the Old Republic Campaign Guide indicated that the Exile had several informal masters prior to the Mandalorian Wars, including Kavar and Vima Sunrider. The novel The Old Republic: Revan confirmed that the Jedi Master's Padawan, who is also the protagonist of The Sith Lords, was named Meetra Surik.
