Biography

Born in Nanjing, China, Ming Qiu's journey began at the age of nine when she entered a temple. There, for a decade, she dedicated herself to the practice of wushu. During this time, she was only able to visit her family once each year. As a valued member of the Jianxu Wushu team, Qiu achieved victory in several martial arts competitions, both nationally and internationally. Following her relocation to the United States in 1995, she entered Hollywood, initially doubling for Nia Peeples in the TV series Walker, Texas Ranger.

Qiu worked as a stunt double for the bounty hunter Fennec Shand in both The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. Her relationship with Ming-Na Wen, the actress embodying Shand, spans more than ten years. Beyond her role as Wen's stunt double, Qiu also served as her trainer, confidante, "ball-buster," and mentor. Wen has expressed deep affection for Qiu.

Chosen by director Deborah Chow, Qiu took on the role of Jedi Master Minas Velti in "Part I" of the Obi-Wan Kenobi television series, an opportunity for which she expressed gratitude. On Instagram, Qiu extended her thanks to Chow, stunt coordinator Jonathan Eusebio, the actors portraying the Jedi younglings, as well as the entire cast and crew.

Qiu held the position of stunt coordinator for the Ahsoka television series. Rosario Dawson and Natasha Liu Bordizzo, who played Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren respectively, received wushu instruction from Qiu. Dawson presented Qiu with freeze frames and clips from animated shows, requesting training to execute Tano's stunts. While Qiu initially deemed some stunts impossible, she demonstrated alternative actions that Dawson could perform.
