Miraluka

The Miraluka were a sentient species of near-human origin that populated the galaxy. Characterized by their tanned brown skin, gray or white hair, and the absence of eyes, one notable Miraluka was Prosset Dibs. Dibs, initially a member of the Jedi Order, embarked on a mission to the planet Hissrich alongside Jedi Master Mace Windu and two additional Jedi. His allegiance shifted after he interpreted the Jedi Council's intentions as exploitative toward Hissrich. After the fall of the Jedi Order, Dibs joined the Galactic Empire's Inquisitorius, adopting the identity of the Tenth Brother. This Inquisitor, along with Darth Vader and two other Inquisitors, journeyed to Mon Cala to pursue a surviving Jedi, but met his end when the Jedi manipulated his Purge Troopers against him.

Behind the scenes

The Miraluka species first appeared through the character of Prosset Dibs in Jedi of the Republic – Mace Windu.

Within Legends continuity, the Miraluka made their debut in the 1994 comic Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi – The Freedon Nadd Uprising. However, in Star Wars canon, they did not appear until August 30 2017 with the release of the comic Jedi of the Republic – Mace Windu, a work penned by Matt Owens and brought to life by the illustrations of Denys Cowan. An article on the official Marvel website initially mentioned them.

A defining trait of the Miraluka is their lack of eyes. Typically, they only have vestigial eye sockets, which they tend to conceal for societal norms. In Legends, they compensate for their absence of physical sight through a manifestation of Force Sight, although the potency of their connection to the Force differed between individuals. This aspect remains unconfirmed within current continuity.
