A quest was embarked upon by the Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi along with his Padawan Anakin Skywalker on the Moon of Staggec for the purpose of extracting Galactic Republic senators Padmé Amidala, Yarua, and additional individuals. Forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, commanded by General Grievous, had seized Amidala and the others during what was believed to be a diplomatic mission to the moon, which turned out to be an ambush. The two Jedi successfully rescued Yarua's daughter, Viiveenn, who was concealed within the jungle. Unbeknownst to the Jedi, her father had hidden a valuable item inside her doll to prevent Grievous from obtaining it. Grievous's orders from Count Dooku were to recover the artifact, which had previously been stored within the moon's Jedi Temple. Yarua had brought the item as a gesture of goodwill and a present for the Moon of Staggec delegation in exchange for their allegiance, but concealed it when the Separatists revealed their presence.
However, Kenobi and Viiveen were apprehended by the Separatists and transported aboard a Munificent-class star frigate. Kenobi managed to free himself and locate Skywalker, who departed to find Amidala. Skywalker located the senator, who ultimately rescued herself. Kenobi then engaged Grievous in a lightsaber duel. Subsequently, Grievous took Viiveenn as a hostage. Yarua charged at Grievous, freeing his daughter but sacrificing his own life. As the Jedi and the rescued prisoners made their escape, everyone except Viiveenn remained unaware of the final location of the valuable item that Yarua had possessed.
