Mourner's Wail Syndicate–Unbroken Clan war

A conflict erupted between the criminal organizations known as the Mourner's Wail Syndicate and the Unbroken Clan following the deaths of the successors apparent to each syndicate. It was widely assumed that the bounty hunter Nakano Lash was responsible for the killings, but in truth, she only eliminated the Mourner's Wail heir, Khamus, after Lash learned of Khamus's intention to murder his love, Krynthia. Krynthia was the Unbroken Clan's heir and the mother of his yet-to-be-born child. After assassinating Khamus, Lash fled with Krynthia; however, the Clan heir passed away weeks later during the delivery of her and Khamus's daughter, Cadeliah. Lash then disappeared to raise Cadeliah, with the hope that the new heir to both syndicates would be able to bring an end to the bloodshed and unify the two groups when she matured.

In 3 ABY, Lash emerged from hiding, succumbing to the illness pneumogray. She sought to entrust her former apprentice, the reward seeker Beilert Valance, with the duty of safeguarding Cadeliah until she was old enough to stop the ongoing battle. Ultimately, the Mourner's Wail's head, Khamdek, would be murdered on Milvayne by Dengar, the bounty hunter. IG-88B, another mercenary, would destroy the Unbroken Clan with assistance from Vukorah, the Clan's leader who had turned traitor.
