Mythra was considered a highly prized material. During the time of the Galactic Republic, the ambassador named Ketas possessed a seal of office crafted entirely from mythra. This seal was kept safe on his starship, known as the Luster. Sometime between 68 BBY and approximately 58 BBY, the Jedi diplomat named Arath Tarrex took the seal without permission, but it was later retrieved by other members of the Jedi Order. Master Jedi Dooku, one of those Jedi involved in the recovery, later shared the story with his sibling, Jenza, through a recorded message. He then entrusted the memory storage device containing this message to Asajj Ventress, his newly appointed Sith apprentice, many years afterwards. In 34 ABY, Resistance member Kazuda Xiono pondered whether a destroyed starship might have been transporting mythra.
Mythra, a substance of considerable value, could be shipped as a commodity across the galaxy.

During the Republic Era, the seal of office belonging to Ketas, the Solodoe ambassador, was constructed from solid mythra and kept on his vessel, the Luster. The high value of the seal motivated Arath Tarrex, a Jedi diplomat, to pilfer it between 68 BBY and approximately 58 BBY, while Ketas was in talks with Plinovians from the world Plin Minor at Station Zeta. Tarrex intended to use the seal to settle his gambling debts and concealed it within his personal quarters. Initially, Ketas accused the visiting Plinovian ambassador of the theft, prompting an investigation by several Jedi. Ultimately, Dooku, a Jedi Master, Rael Averross, a Jedi Knight, and Qui-Gon Jinn, a Padawan, discovered the seal inside a container in Tarrex's room and returned it to Ketas.
Later, Dooku recounted these events to his sister, Jenza, in a recorded message. Around 23 BBY, Dooku provided Asajj Ventress, his newly acquired Sith assassin, with several data disks containing his messages to Jenza. This was for her investigation into finding his sibling. She listened to the message that mentioned the stolen mythra seal of office. In 34 ABY, Kazuda Xiono and Poe Dameron, Resistance operatives, were investigating a Darius G-class freighter that had been attacked by space pirates. During this process, Xiono wondered if the transport ship had been carrying valuable materials such as gold, mythra, or spice.
Within the current Star Wars established continuity, the initial mention of mythra occurred in "Signal from Sector Six," the seventh episode of the first season of the animated series Star Wars Resistance, which was broadcast on November 11th, 2018. Mythra made its first appearance in a flashback sequence in the 2019 audio drama Dooku: Jedi Lost, authored by Cavan Scott. In the Star Wars Legends timeline, mythra was a highly prized metal. It initially appeared in the 1995 West End Games product Star Wars Adventure Journal 8 within its "Galaxywide NewsNets" section, written by Paul Sudlow.
