Naasa

Naasa, a Jumurra female, held the respected position of witch elder and served as an advisor within Mother Aniseya's coven. This coven resided on the planet Brendok during the era known as the High Republic Era. In the year 148 BBY, Naasa was present at a gathering of Mother Aniseya's trusted advisors. This meeting occurred after a group of Jedi had sought out the Mother's twin daughters, namely Verosha Aniseya and Mae-ho Aniseya. These Jedi had successfully obtained Aniseya's consent to evaluate the twins as potential Jedi recruits.

The elder suggested that only passing the test would result in the twins departing with the Jedi. Consequently, Mother Aniseya instructed her offspring to deliberately fail the evaluation. However, Verosha chose to disregard her mother's directive. Later, Naasa voiced her agreement with other coven members who believed that Verosha should be prevented from leaving. This discussion took place shortly before Jedi forces infiltrated the fortress in search of the twins. Subsequently, Naasa participated in a ritual to possess the Wookiee Jedi Kelnacca. This act forced him to engage his comrades in combat until Jedi Master [Indara](/article/indara] intervened, breaking the possession and, in the process, killing Naasa.

Biography

Sage advice

Naasa acted as an advisor to Mother Aniseya on Brendok.

Within the exiled witch coven led by Mother Aniseya, Naasa, a Jumurra female, served as both an elder and a key advisor to the leader. This coven's base of operations was a fortress located on the planet Brendok during the High Republic Era. In the year 148 BBY, a group of four Jedi arrived at the fortress, seeking out Mother Aniseya's twin daughters, Verosha Aniseya and Mae-ho Aniseya, who were undergoing training by the witches. Following a confrontation at the twins' Rite of Ascension ritual, the Jedi formally requested Mother Aniseya's permission to evaluate her daughters for potential recruitment into the Jedi Order.

After the confrontation, the coven's leader agreed that they would take the test the following day, then called a meeting of her advisors in the fortress common room after the Jedi had left the fortress. Naasa attended the meeting but sat on the common room's steps while the others present stood. Mother Koril suggested that the coven attack the Jedi, but others objected and Aniseya ultimately rejected the idea, stating that the test would be taken. Koril then questioned what would happen when the Jedi discovered the twins' origin, at which point Naasa interjected, slowly standing as the other advisors turned to listen. As she slowly moved toward Koril and Mother Aniseya, the elder pointed out that the test could be passed or failed, with only the pass result leading to the twins being taken away by the Jedi.

Collapse of the coven

Naasa agreed with those who wished to prevent Verosha Aniseya leaving the coven.

Following this meeting, Mother Aniseya instructed both Verosha and Mae-ho to intentionally fail the upcoming Jedi evaluation, an order that Mae-ho willingly complied with. However, Verosha harbored aspirations of becoming a Jedi and, therefore, successfully passed the test. Subsequently, Naasa positioned herself on the steps of the common room, listening as Verosha informed her mother of her desire to join the Jedi Order. After Verosha's departure from the room, Naasa, along with the other witches present, engaged in a discussion regarding whether Verosha should be permitted to leave.

Several coven members voiced their opposition to Verosha joining the Jedi, and Naasa indicated her agreement with their sentiments through a nod. However, Mother Aniseya overruled their objections, prioritizing Verosha's personal desires. Meanwhile, Jedi Knight Sol and his Padawan Torbin had initiated an infiltration of the fortress with the intention of rescuing the twins. As Koril urged the coven to prepare for defense, Aniseya was killed during a confrontation with the Jedi in the fortress's courtyard. Following Aniseya's demise, Naasa and a group of other witches, seated together in the common room, began chanting to cast a spell. This spell was intended to possess the Wookiee Jedi Kelnacca upon his arrival at the fortress. With their palms upturned and their eyes completely black, the witches swayed and mumbled the chant in a trance like state of concentration while casting the spell.

Naasa helped cast a spell to control Kelnacca.

Under the influence of the possession, Kelnacca engaged Sol and Torbin in combat until Jedi Master [Indara](/article/indara] arrived and utilized the Force to break the spell's hold. This action resulted in the deaths of Naasa and the other witches involved in the ritual, causing them to collapse into a lifeless heap. Subsequently, Sol rescued Verosha from a fire that was spreading throughout the fortress. As they exited the structure, the pair encountered the bodies of the deceased witches before their departure.

Personality and traits

By the year 148 BBY, Naasa exhibited the physical characteristics of advanced age, requiring the assistance of a cane for mobility and experiencing difficulty standing during meetings in the common room. Due to her age, the elder's primary concern was for the future of her coven, within which she stood out for her wisdom. The witch had tan skin, brown eyes, and stood 1.75 meters tall.

Equipment

Naasa was typically seen wearing purple robes adorned with golden trim, a gray hat, and a necklace featuring numerous flat or thin golden embellishments. The witch also wore a golden ring on each index finger, as well as another on her left ring finger. Naasa's walking cane was brown in color.
