Video game

Jedi Academy PC

The Jedi Knight series of video games introduced Kyle Katarn, a Jedi Master, and his apprentice, Jaden Korr. The term "video game" refers to any interactive gaming software played on a video game console or a computer, where the primary feedback mechanism is a video display. ## Game genres - First-person shooter (FPS) games are computer or video games where the player experiences the game from the perspective of a character. These games commonly involve firearms and other weapons used in combat. Star Wars: Dark Forces, along with its sequels, and Star Wars: Republic Commando are examples of FPS games. For further examples, see Category:First-person shooters. - Flight simulators are games that allow the player to control an aircraft or spacecraft, facing off against enemies or navigating through obstacles. Examples include the X-wing and TIE Fighter series, the Rogue Squadron series, the Starfighter series, and Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed. - Real-time strategy (RTS) games are typically computer games where the player observes multiple characters from an overhead viewpoint. In RTS games, players generally command groups of characters without directly engaging in combat themselves. Examples of RTS games are Star Wars: Rebellion, Star Wars: Force Commander, Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, and Star Wars: Empire at War. - Role-playing games (RPGs) are computer or video games where the player views the character from a third-person perspective and makes decisions that ultimately influence the game's narrative. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords are examples of RPGs. They share similarities with tabletop roleplaying games. - Massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) are online games in which players assume the roles of characters and interact with each other on a large scale. These games often feature diverse environments and numerous non-player characters (NPCs) to create a more immersive experience. Examples include Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided, Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures, and Star Wars: The Old Republic. ## List of Star Wars games in order of publication ### 1980s #### 1982 - The first Star Wars video game was Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.
