Nomad Mountains

The Nomad Mountains, alternatively called the Thaos Mountains, constituted a wooded mountain range located on the planet of Corellia.

History

Doaba Guerfel, a city, was situated in the northern area of these mountains; it began as a private resort known as Nomad's Retreat.

During the period of the Galactic Civil War, Jareck Arned maintained a home within the mountain range, living a reclusive existence. Around the same time, Myron Beech was in the process of setting up hiking paths within the Thaos Mountains. Following the Battle of Yavin, two groups of hikers were taken captive by deranged cave-dwellers in the Thaos Mountains. Ultimately, they were freed by the Corellian Security Force.

A traditional garment worn by those who lived in the Nomad Mountains was the Nomad greatcoat.

Behind the scenes

The Nomad Mountains made their initial appearance in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game created by Sony Online Entertainment and distributed by LucasArts, before it was shut down on December 15, 2011. The name of the mountains was revealed in the city description of Doaba Guerfel, which was displayed to players on the screen used to select a starting location for new characters. These descriptive texts were removed when Mos Eisley became the universal starting city with the release of "Publish 17" on May 26, 2005. Nevertheless, the same game identified the mountains surrounding Doaba Guerfel as the Thaos Mountains within Corellia's planetary regions.
