Oteg was a highly respected male Jedi Master and also a Fleet Admiral. He dedicated his service to both the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic throughout the Great Galactic War as well as the subsequent Cold War. As commander of the Republic's First Expeditionary Fleet, Oteg engaged in combat against the Sith Empire during the Cold War and the Galactic War.
Being Force-sensitive and a member of a long-lived species, Oteg underwent training in the ways of the Force under the guidance of the Jedi Order two centuries prior to the outbreak of the Great Galactic War. Having achieved the rank of Jedi Master, Oteg found himself aboard the Republic starship Sarapin Wanderer during the Great Galactic War, amidst conflict with the resurgent Sith Empire, when an attack resulted in the captain's death. Assuming command and orchestrating a counteroffensive, Oteg demonstrated his military skill by maneuvering the Imperial fleet into a nearby nebula, where he cleverly triggered the nebula's gases to detonate, annihilating the enemy fleet.
Following the implementation of the Treaty of Coruscant and his return to Republic territory, Oteg received an appointment to the Jedi High Council, where he contributed to the Order's leadership until the treaty's peace began to unravel. As escalating conflicts threatened the peace, Supreme Chancellor Dorian Janarus proposed Oteg for the position of Fleet Admiral. With the endorsement of Grand Master Satele Shan, Oteg stepped down from the Council and assumed control of the First Expeditionary Fleet, operating from the bridge of the Republic dreadnought Telos.
During the conflict, he summoned a specialized four-member strike team to communicate with the Force ghost of Meetra Surik, who informed them about a Jedi Master imprisoned by the Sith Empire. He then orchestrated the subsequent operation to acquire the means of freeing the Jedi Master, who was later revealed to be the renowned Revan. This involved obtaining a Gree key. After the computer was secured, the Jedi Master led the fleet into the Maelstrom, engaging the Imperial Fifth Fleet, commanded by Grand Moff Rycus Kilran, which was stationed at the prison facility. With the Imperial fleet and the station's defenses closing in, he contacted the Republic strike team inside the station, informing them of the dire situation. They advised him to retreat, ultimately saving Oteg's life and the flagship while they liberated Revan. Following Revan's successful rescue, Master Oteg welcomed him aboard the Telos.
The voice of Oteg was provided by Jim Cummings. He stands as one of only two known members of his species, the other being Vandar Tokare, who employ standard grammatical structure, contrasting with the distinctive speech patterns of Yoda and Yaddle.
If the player opts for the dark side path in the Maelstrom Prison flashpoint, Oteg meets his demise when the bridge of the Telos is destroyed.
