Phenlass Sur, a Reesarian, became a member of the Resistance alongside Odla Sur, his bonded partner and spouse. Functioning as both soldiers and scouts, they utilized their exceptional sensory abilities to explore the jungle surrounding the Resistance base located on the jungle moon of Ajan Kloss, discovering sources of freshwater and the migration patterns of local wildlife. In the year 35 ABY, the pair were present at a gathering at the base where Resistance pilot Poe Dameron announced the return of the Sith Lord Darth Sidious.
Phenlass Sur, a Reesarian, entered into a bonded partnership with Odla Sur, another Reesarian, and committed to a life of companionship through marriage. Together, they enlisted in the Resistance and participated in the war against the First Order, serving as both soldiers and scouts. Stationed at a base on the jungle moon of Ajan Kloss, they conducted reconnaissance missions in the surrounding jungle beyond the base's perimeter. Relying on their acute sense of sound and smell, the couple located freshwater springs and, by observing the undergrowth, mapped out the migratory routes of the local animal population.

In the year 35 ABY, the pair were present at the base, standing beneath the CR90 corvette known as the Tantive IV, when Rey, a Jedi member of the Resistance, returned from a training session in the jungle and conferred with Princess Leia Organa, the leader of the Resistance. Later, Odla and Phenlass stood beneath the cruiser's cockpit while attending a meeting where Resistance pilot Poe Dameron revealed that Darth Sidious, the Sith Lord, had returned and established the Sith Eternal's fleet, known as the Final Order, on the planet of Exegol, enabling the First Order to seize control of the galaxy. During this meeting, Odla placed her hand on Phenlass's shoulder and leaned in to speak with him.
Aidan Cook played Phenlass Sur in the 2019 sequel trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker. The character was first identified in the companion book Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary, authored by Pablo Hidalgo.
