Phrik was a resilient and uncommon alloy. It was mined on Tatooine in the Arkanis sector, as well as on Gromas within the Perkell sector. An ancient staff constructed from this metal was once part of the Jedi Archive collection; it was displayed at the Valo Republic Fair and briefly used by Lourna Dee, who was a Tempest Runner serving the Nihil. Darth Sidious crafted dual lightsabers from phrik during his apprenticeship under Darth Plagueis.
Electrostaffs produced by the Baktoid Armor Workshop also incorporated phrik, granting them resistance against lightsaber attacks. Vicrul's scythe had phrik threads reinforcing it, meaning a lightsaber user had to apply significant force to cut through it.
Sometime before 3 ABY, phrik was extracted from the Mos Algo mine located on the desert planet of Tatooine.
In the year 3 ABY, a phrik shipment was scheduled for delivery to Imperial governor Thorden, the governing official of the Outer Rim Territories moon Toshara. Details of this delivery were recorded in shipment log #459, which was stored on a datapad aboard Fuel Station Visavi, which was stationed in orbit around Toshara.
In "Grievous Intrigue," an episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Grievous engages Obi-Wan Kenobi in combat, and his lightsabers slice through an electrostaff. This contradicts previous portrayals of electrostaffs throughout the series, and the reason for the phrik's failure remains unexplained.
