Proach

Proach, a Trandoshan of the male persuasion, functioned as a foreman for the Mining Guild. His area of operations was the planet of Lothal, specifically during 1 BBY. During the Spectres' unauthorized acquisition of crawler 413-24, the aforementioned foreman engaged in a short physical altercation with Garazeb Orrelios, a Lasat, which ultimately led to his demise.

Biography

A violent approach

Proach piloted a TIE/mg fighter against a C-ROC Gozanti-class cruiser

During the Galactic Empire's rule, Proach, a male Trandoshan, was employed by the Mining Guild. At one point, he took to the skies in a TIE/mg Mining Guild starfighter to attack a C-ROC Gozanti-class cruiser. In the year 1 BBY, he held the position of Slave Master and foreman on Lothal. His duties involved overseeing the slaves working on the ore crawlers used by the Guild to extract resources for the Empire. When the Spectres, Rebel Alliance operatives seeking to utilize the vehicle's long-range transmitter, boarded crawler 413-24 in Lothal's southern hemisphere, Proach was present onboard.

While Captain Seevor was captured and the bridge was seized by the Rebels, Proach remained in the crawler's rear section with the slaves. After detecting an internal communication originating from the rear, Kanan Jarrus, a Jedi, and Garazeb Orrelios, a Lasat, ventured to investigate, separating upon entry. Jarrus discovered the slaves, including his acquaintance Cikatro Vizago, who presumed Proach had already been defeated. However, Proach ambushed Jarrus, attacking with his electro-whip, which the Jedi deflected with his lightsaber. The whip then wrapped around the lightsaber's hilt, allowing Proach to wrest it from Jarrus's grasp. He subsequently ensnared Jarrus with the whip and shocked him, causing the Jedi to fall unconscious.

Clash of the titans

Proach stands over an incapacitated Jarrus.

As the foreman stood over his downed enemy, Orrelios fired his bo-rifle from above, drawing the Trandoshan's attention. Proach then used his whip to ascend to the Lasat's level and charged, engaging in hand-to-hand combat and disarming him. Orrelios retaliated by lifting Proach and carrying him onto an exposed walkway connecting two crawler sections.

Proach then executed a suplex on the Lasat. After more exchanged blows, the Trandoshan gained the advantage and began repeatedly slamming Orrelios's head against a metal bar before attempting to throw him off the walkway. Orrelios freed himself with his legs, grabbed Proach, and pulled him over the edge. Hanging beneath the walkway, they continued to fight. Jarrus appeared on another walkway below, and after Orrelios called out to him, the Jedi hurried to reach the conflict. Proach then used his whip to strike the Lasat, eventually ensnaring his arm and shocking him to force him to fall.

Resisting the shock, the Rebel pulled the whip, dragging Proach into a metal bar and causing him to fall from the walkway. Now only held by the whip around Orrelios's arm, the Lasat struggled to support both their weights. Ultimately, Proach's strength failed, and he plunged to his death into the crawler's smoky depths. Orrelios then lost his grip but was rescued by Jarrus. After Seevor's death while attempting to sabotage the crawler, the Rebels successfully gained complete control of the vehicle.

Personality and traits

Proach was a brutal and nimble slave driver, a formidable presence, and a dangerous fighter. He had green skin, orange eyes, and was taller than Garazeb Orrelios, who stood at 2.1 meters. The Trandoshan showed great fear while dangling from his whip and screamed in terror as he fell.

Equipment

Proach wore a yellow and blue Mining Guild uniform that included a helmet. He wielded an electro-whip and, on one occasion, piloted a TIE/mg Mining Guild starfighter.

Behind the scenes

Pat Roach, whom Proach was named after, as he appeared in Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Proach debuted in the Star Wars Rebels episode "Crawler Commandeers" with Clancy Brown providing his voice.

His character's name pays homage to Pat Roach, the actor who portrayed the Giant Sherpa and the burly mechanic that Indiana Jones fights in the 1981 film Raiders of the Lost Ark, the Chief Guard in the 1984 film Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and the Gestapo in the 1989 film Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
