The Providence was a starship under the ownership of Phee Genoa, a pirate and seeker of valuable treasures. MEL-221, Genoa's droid, was frequently destroyed during their escapades. To mitigate this, Genoa ensured her memory was consistently backed up to the vessel's databank, enabling Mel's reconstruction.
Approximately around 18 BBY, Genoa made port at a lunar base situated on an airless moon to refuel the Providence. As the service droid Olly replenished the ship's fuel, Genoa and MEL took a break. Unbeknownst to them, the clone assassin known as CX-2 secretly boarded the Providence with the intention of extracting data that would aid in locating Clone Force 99. The insertion of a computer spike by the assassin triggered the ship's alarm system. However, CX-2 swiftly neutralized the alarms before downloading the information and making an escape.
When Omega, a member of Clone Force 99 and a friend of Genoa's, was taken captive by the Galactic Empire, and their ship, the Marauder was destroyed by CX-2 on Pabu, Genoa offered her assistance to the Bad Batch for a mission to the planet Erebus. The clones embarked on the Providence with Genoa to journey to the Imperial labor camp. In order to evade Imperial patrols overhead, Genoa engaged the ship's stealth capabilities, deactivating the engines and initiating a manual descent into the lower atmosphere. Once there, Genoa reactivated the engines and navigated the Providence close to the muddy surface of the planet, successfully deploying the squad. Shortly after, the Bad Batch successfully completed their objective, rescuing the Imperial prisoner Edmon Rampart, and Genoa piloted the Providence to a successful extraction.
