Rani, a human female residing on Golak during the Imperial Era, possessed sensitivity to the Force. Sometime between the years of 19 BBY and 3 BBY, she journeyed with her older brother, Charuk, to the location known as the Golak Mahal.
Rani, along with her older brother Charuk, made her home on the planet Golak sometime in the period spanning from 19 BBY to 3 BBY. During this era, the Galactic Empire held dominion over Golak, which compelled Rani and Charuk to seek refuge elsewhere. Acting on information received from their father regarding the Golak Mahal, Rani and Charuk embarked on a journey via train. While aboard, Rani requested permission to play her father's flute, a request Charuk denied. Overcome by hunger, Rani noticed a vendor selling Le'bi and asked Charuk if she could have some. Before Charuk could approach the vendor, Rani employed her Force power to retrieve the flute from Charuk, thereby revealing her inherent Force-sensitivity. As Charuk stood in line to purchase Le'bi, a scavenger informed a nearby Stormtrooper about a girl exhibiting special abilities. Overhearing this, Charuk resorted to stealing Le'bi in an attempt to distract attention from Rani, resulting in a pursuit by two Stormtroopers. Charuk successfully evaded the Stormtroopers by ascending to the roof of the train. Amidst this chaos, the train entered the Jangori settlements, prompting a call for reinforcements. Subsequently, the train came under attack by Jangorian bandits. As the bandits targeted the Imperial speeder bikes, Charuk sought an escape hatch and eventually located one, only to find it sealed. Before Charuk could be shot, Rani intervened by unsealing the hatch, allowing Charuk to re-enter the train before it passed through a tunnel, thus exiting the Jangori settlements.
Rani and Charuk eventually arrived at their designated stop and made their way to the Golak Mahal. Upon reaching their destination, they were greeted by Rugal, who extended an invitation for them to eat. Before Rani and Charuk could partake in the Le'bi, an Inquisitor accompanied by two Purge Troopers clad in Phase I armor arrived. The Inquisitor proceeded to interrogate Charuk about reports of a Force-sensitive girl on Golak. In a cruel attempt to provoke him, the Inquisitor claimed to have gone beyond the train tracks, burned all the farm villages, and left no survivors. Sensing that Rani possessed Force abilities, the Inquisitor used a force push to shove Charuk aside. He then attempted to apprehend Rani, triggering a chaotic brawl among the patrons of the Golak Mahal. Before the Inquisitor could capture Rani, Rugal revealed herself to be a Jedi in order to protect Rani and Charuk. She then engaged the Inquisitor in a duel and killed him by slashing his throat. Following the Inquisitor's demise, Rugal led Rani to a hidden tunnel concealed within a body of water. As Rugal assured Charuk that Rani would be safer with her, Charuk bid his final farewell to Rani before she entered the tunnel. After Rani entered the tunnel, which immediately sealed and submerged beneath the water, Charuk found his father's flute floating on the surface. He kept the flute as a memento of his sister.
