A female Jedi known as Rugal was in hiding on the desert planet of Golak. Her time there occurred sometime in the period between 19 BBY and 3 BBY. During these years, she managed the Golak Mahal, a roadside motel established on the planet. The siblings Rani and Charuk eventually made their way to the Golak Mahal, where Rugal offered them a meal.
Rugal spent the time between 19 BBY and 3 BBY hiding from the Empire on the planet Golak. During this period, she operated the Golak Mahal, a roadside motel that was situated on the desert planet.
While she was in hiding on Golak, a pair of siblings, Rani and Charuk, came to the Golak Mahal. Rugal greeted the siblings upon their arrival and allowed them to eat there. Rugal sensed that Rani, the younger of the two, possessed Force-sensitivity. Before Rani and Charuk could partake in some Le'bi, an Inquisitor arrived with two Purge Troopers wearing Phase I armor. The Inquisitor then interrogated Charuk about reports of a Force-sensitive girl being on Golak. The Inquisitor, seeking to taunt him, mentioned that he went beyond the train tracks, burned all the farm villages, and left no survivors. The Inquisitor, realizing that Rani was the Force-sensitive girl, used a Force Push to move Charuk out of the way. He then tried to take Rani, which led to a chaotic scene where many of the inhabitants were fighting. Rugal revealed herself to be a Jedi to safeguard Rani and Charuk before the Inquisitor could capture Rani. She then engaged the Inquisitor in a duel and killed him by cutting his throat. After the Inquisitor's death, Rugal led Rani to a secret tunnel located in a body of water. Rugal assured Charuk that Rani would be safer with her, and Charuk bid Rani farewell before she entered the tunnel. Rugal and Rani entered the tunnel together, after which it immediately closed and became submerged in the water.
Rugal was an older woman who used a cane for support while walking. However, her cane could transform into a cane lightsaber, splitting into two blue lightsabers.
Lillete Dubey provided the voice for Rugal, who made her debut in "The Bandits of Golak," the seventh episode of the second volume of Star Wars: Visions.
