Plot summary

Maul and Savage Opress, having reunited, journey back to Dathomir. There, Mother Talzin guides the brothers to her village, where she utilizes magicks to remove Maul's spider-like cybernetics, replacing them with new cybernetic legs and restoring his mental stability. Fully healed and reborn, Maul reflects on his survival, marked by abandonment, oblivion, and despair, sustained only by his burning hatred. Sensing an imbalance in the Force, Maul learns from Savage about the ongoing Clone Wars. Enraged that the conflict began without him, Maul feels deprived of his destiny to transcend his role as a mere Sith apprentice to the "most powerful being in the galaxy." Despite Savage's belief in a fresh start, the brothers conspire to exact Maul's revenge upon Obi-Wan Kenobi, the Jedi responsible for his downfall.

To lure Kenobi, Maul and Opress descend upon a village on Raydonia, massacring its inhabitants and transmitting a hologram message to the Jedi Temple, daring Obi-Wan to confront them. Despite Mace Windu's suggestion of deploying a Jedi task force, Obi-Wan insists on facing them alone to atone for his past actions. As Windu voices his concerns, Yoda enigmatically suggests that Obi-Wan will have company – simultaneously, in a certain place on Tatooine, Asajj Ventress discovers a bounty on Savage Opress and sets out to claim it.

Arriving at the Raydonian village, Obi-Wan is swiftly overpowered by Maul and Opress, who imprison him aboard their hijacked freighter with the intention of torturing him to death. However, just before their departure, Ventress lands on the planet, locates their ship, and sneaks aboard. Confronting the brothers, she provokes them by deriding Savage as a beast, causing them to abandon the unconscious Obi-Wan in pursuit of her. Ventress then aids Obi-Wan, awakening him and providing him with one of her lightsabers for self-defense upon Maul and Opress's return. The unlikely duo collaborates to fight the brothers, but are ultimately overwhelmed and narrowly escape by ejecting the ship's cockpit, leaving Maul and Opress stranded. Despite this setback, Maul remains confident that the Jedi will pursue him once more, paving the way for his eventual revenge.

Continuity

The red logo of "Brothers" and "Revenge".

"Revenge" marked the second instance in the series where the opening logo was rendered in red, deviating from the customary yellow. The previous episode had also employed this red logo initially, coinciding with Darth Maul's return.

According to information revealed in a behind-the-scenes segment on StarWars.com, the turtle tanker does possess a secondary control pod, preventing the brothers from being stranded, as Maul is seen within it as the episode concludes.

The design of Maul in this episode is inspired by the comic book Old Wounds.
