Rilo Tang

Rilo Tang, a human male, held the rank of gunnery officer within the Imperial Military before the Battle of Endor which occurred in 4 ABY. He was an enthusiastic officer, but also notorious for his thieving tendencies. On one occasion, he stole a particularly valuable ring from a Moff, resulting in an interrogation to extract a confession led by Imperial loyalty officer Sinjir Rath Velus. Velus inflicted severe injuries, breaking many of Tang's bones and permanently disfiguring him. Post-interrogation, Rath Velus heard rumors that Tang was relegated to working in the trash compactors.

Biography

During the reign of the Galactic Empire, Rilo Tang, a human male, attended an Imperial academy. Before the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY, he became a gunnery officer, eventually serving in a unit that included the Imperial loyalty officer Sinjir Rath Velus. Rath Velus believed, based on Tang's psychology, that his parents had enrolled him in the academies to mold him into a "proper galactic citizen."

During his time in the Imperial Military, Tang was known for his kleptomania; he was infamous for stealing personal items from other Imperial personnel, including holopics, ID tags, and even a private's shoes. Despite repeated warnings from Rath Velus and others, Tang struggled to control his compulsion. When the gunnery officer pilfered a ring from a Moff containing encoded information, Rath Velus was assigned to obtain a confession. In the process of interrogation, the loyalty officer broke many bones in Tang's body and left him with a disfigured face. Later, Rath Velus heard reports that Tang had survived and was working in the trash compactors.

In 4 ABY, after defecting from the Empire and seeking refuge on the dissident Outer Rim planet Akiva, a remorseful Rath Velus recounted the story of Tang's interrogation to New Republic pilot Norra Wexley while discussing his days as an Imperial. While the former loyalty officer rarely regretted his past actions, the case of Rilo Tang was a notable exception.

Personality and traits

Sinjir Rath Velus, Rilo Tang's interrogator, considered him to be physically attractive, noting that his eyes shone like polished credits. At the time he stole the Moff's ring, Tang appeared youthful. He was an enthusiastic and intelligent Imperial officer, but he could not control his thieving urges despite being warned about his behavior.

After a series of minor thefts, Tang stole a ring from a Moff, leading to a brutal interrogation by Rath Velus. This event resulted in numerous broken bones and a disfigured face for Tang. Recalling the interrogation later, Rath Velus reflected that Tang had been a troubled young man, suspecting that his parents had enrolled him in the Imperial academies in an attempt to curb his kleptomania.
