Rishi was a planetary body situated within the Rishi system, itself located in the Abrion sector of the Outer Rim Territories. This planet, positioned at coordinates S-15 on the Standard Galactic Grid, was in orbit around the Rishi Moon. The native species of Rishi were the Rishii, and the planet also possessed exonium deposits.
During the Republic Era, Sifo-Dyas and his Padawan Lene Kostana, a Jedi Master, discovered the Hand of Skrye while present on Rishi, and while there, Kostana instructed her apprentice in a ritual of cleansing. Later, during the Clone Wars, the Rishi Station, a Galactic Republic listening post, was located on the Moon of Rishi, and in 22 BBY it was invaded by the Confederacy of Independent Systems under the command of General Grievous, a Kaleesh. The Republic clone troopers destroyed the listening post to request reinforcements.
The planet Rishi made its initial appearance in the new Star Wars canon with "Rookies," which was broadcast on October 24, 2008 as the fifth episode of first season of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series. The Rishi of the Star Wars Legends continuity was originally featured in Dark Force Rising, the second book of Star Wars: The Thrawn Trilogy written by Timothy Zahn in 1992.
