EC-17 hold-out blaster
The EC-17 hold-out blaster, also known under various names such as scout pistol, flash pistol, or scout trooper blaster, was a standard hold-out blaster pistol produced by BlasTech Industries and issued to members of the Imperial scout troopers and patrol troopers.
Description
The EC-17 hold-out blaster, a small and easily wielded one-handed blaster from BlasTech Industries, incorporated an integrated targeting scope to improve aiming, along with a laser emitter optimized for short distances. Certain versions also included a small, intensely bright light attached to the main barrel, capable of being activated to "flash-stun" an opponent by temporarily impairing their vision. A distinguishing characteristic of the EC-17, setting it apart from other blaster pistols of comparable size and power, was its unique trigger placement on the side of the weapon, instead of beneath the barrel, which made it easier to use while wearing gloves. As a result of being designed for close-quarters engagements, the blaster's accuracy diminished significantly at longer ranges.
History
During the era of the Galactic Empire, the EC-17 became the standard-issue sidearm for both scout troopers and patrol troopers, often carried in a trooper's boot holster. Furthermore, this weapon saw usage by soldiers within the Rebel Alliance during the Galactic Civil War, including scout troopers stationed on Endor during the Battle of Endor.
