The Seekers' Shadehouse functioned as a retreat for scholars. It was situated on the Ardok Ranch, located on Ool, a planet within the domain of the Chiss Ascendancy. This Shadehouse was one of several facilities associated with the Seekers program. The Seekers program was an initiative focused on the education and development of young Chiss girls who possessed special abilities referred to as Third Sight. The purpose was to transform them into sky-walker navigators. These navigators would serve the Ascendancy. The Seekers program, in addition to preparing the girls for their roles within the sky-walker corps, also erased all memories related to the girls' birth families. This was done to prevent them from abandoning their duties due to feelings of homesickness. In the year 18 BBY, Caregiver Mitth'ali'astov, whose core name was "Thalias," a former sky-walker, visited the Ardok Ranch. During her visit, she began to suspect that she herself might have undergone training at the Seekers' Shadehouse at the beginning of her career as a sky-walker.

The Seekers' Shadehouse, a training facility for the Seekers program, was positioned on the planet of Ool within the Chiss Ascendancy. The Seekers program aimed to educate and prepare young Chiss girls with abilities called Third Sight. The goal was for them to become sky-walker navigators, joining the sky-walker corps for the Ascendancy's Expansionary Defense Fleet. Beyond training the girls for their future roles, the Seekers Shadehouse also removed the memories of their early lives and birth families. This was to prevent feelings of homesickness and stress that might cause them to leave the program. The Ardok Ranch on Ool was the location of the Shadehouse, functioning as an adjunct to the facility. Because the public was unaware of the facility and its purpose, it was not listed in any guidebooks or location directories.
The Seekers' Shadehouse was established on the planet Ool prior to 18 BBY. By that year, Cohbo'rik'ardok, whose core name was "Borika," and her husband, Bomarmo, had taken ownership of the Ardok Ranch. Borika worked closely with the Shadehouse, serving as one of its researchers. In 18 BBY, Mitth'ali'astov "Thalias," a caregiver for the Chiss Expansionary Defense Fleet, traveled to Ool seeking the Seekers' Shadehouse. She had received its location on a data cylinder compiled by Mitth'ras'safis "Thrass," a Syndic of the Mitth family. Upon arriving at the Ardok Ranch, she met Borika. Thalias informed her about Che'ri, the sky-walker she was responsible for, and Che'ri's interactions with an alien being known as the Magys, who had the ability to enhance the young girl's Third Sight. Borika responded that she would request the Shadehouse to investigate, but could not guarantee a definitive answer. She also suggested that Thalias' best course of action would be to request an official reassignment to Ool, but Thalias considered this impossible because the Ascendancy was nearing a civil war.
The two women, both former sky-walkers, began to discuss the Seekers program's training methods. As they talked, Thalias began to look around the house, leading Borika to ask if she remembered the house. Borika suggested that if Thalias had trained at the Seekers' Shadehouse, she would have spent time in the room they were in. Thalias asked about the aspect of the training that caused them to lose their early memories, and Borika explained that the training was not the cause. After initially hesitating, she revealed that the Shadehouse erased the girls' memories to prevent homesickness and desertion from the program. Thalias then told Borika that she was the sister of Mitth'raw'nuruodo "Thrawn," a Senior Captain on the Chiss heavy cruiser Springhawk. The Springhawk was the warship where Thalias and Che'ri were stationed.
Shortly after, Thalias received a communication from Ufsa'mak'ro "Samakro," the Springhawk's first officer with the rank of Mid Captain. Samakro requested her immediate return to the planet Csilla. Borika then transported Thalias to the Ibbian Spaceport. Several weeks later, Thalias returned to Ool with Che'ri. With the immediate threat of civil war in the Ascendancy resolved, she was able to bring Che'ri to Ool so that the Seekers' Shadehouse could further investigate her interactions with the Magys.
The Seekers' Shadehouse made an appearance in Thrawn Ascendancy: Lesser Evil, a 2021 novel and the concluding book in Timothy Zahn's Star Wars: The Ascendancy Trilogy.
