Daho Sejan

Daho Sejan was a Pau'an male who served as a senator representing his homeworld of Utapau within the Galactic Empire during the Imperial Era.

Biography

Background

As the representative for Utapau in the Imperial Senate, Senator Daho Sejan asserted that he held no affection for the Galactic Empire's occupation of his planet. Nevertheless, convinced that the New Order was unstoppable, he instead aimed to secure the Emperor's favor, prioritizing his own security even if it meant being disgraced in the eyes of his people.

Sejan once communicated with an associate, comparing the Senate to a fixed gambling establishment. He conveyed that Palpatine invariably prevailed in political maneuvers, rendering participation futile unless personal advantages could also be obtained. By 9 BBY, Senator Sejan had acquired a yacht of the Ramsidian class, crafted by Sienar Fleet Systems.

Hunting Cal Kestis

To directly gain favor with Emperor Palpatine, bypassing Darth Vader and the Inquisitorius, Senator Sejan attempted to purchase the captured Jedi Knight Cal Kestis from Coruscant Security Force officers. On his orders, Level 2046 was locked down, and a curfew was enforced, leading to the detention of non-compliant citizens.

Upon receiving Kestis, Sejan revealed his knowledge of Kestis' involvement in the failed coup on Norsid. Sejan examined Kestis' lightsaber, predicting that future generations would regard it as a mythical artifact. He demanded that Kestis disclose the locations of other fugitive Jedi; however, unbeknownst to Sejan, the entire scenario was a ruse orchestrated by Kestis and his allies to infiltrate Sejan's yacht and access the classified military information stored within.

Death

Sejan's execution was carried out by the Ninth Sister, who accused him of treason for supposedly sheltering a traitor.

After subduing Sejan's stormtrooper and patrol trooper escort, Kestis's team sabotaged and boarded the yacht. Kestis employed a mind trick on Sejan, compelling him to access the terminal. The senator tried to negotiate a "deal" with the Jedi, arguing that the latter's group stood no chance against the Empire, but his dire warnings were ignored. As the group attempted to escape with the Pau'an representative as their captive, they were ambushed by Imperial forces. Just as he was about to complain about the lack of promptness, the Inquisitor Ninth Sister stabbed the senator in the chest for perceived disloyalty.

Legacy

In 35 ABY, Sejan was referenced in The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire, a historical account penned by Beaumont Kin. Drawing upon data from Imperial Archives, Section: Senator Daho Sejan, File: ZE14 - seized records, Kin highlighted Sejan's mixed feelings toward Emperor Palpatine and noted that Sejan was put to death for what he termed an "unspecified form of treason."

Personality and traits

Mirroring other Pau'ans, Daho Sejan possessed wrinkled grey skin, crimson eye sockets, sharp teeth, and elongated clawed fingers. Despite outwardly expressing concern for his people and asserting his opposition to Utapau's integration into the Empire, the Pau'an's primary concern was his personal well-being. Convinced of the futility of opposing the growing Imperial forces, the senator instead sought to elevate his standing with the Emperor. However, Sejan's misguided sense of security, stemming from his chosen allegiance, blinded him to the characteristic intolerance of treachery exhibited by his Imperial counterparts, such as the Inquisitorius operative Ninth Sister.

Furthermore, he was known to engage in torture aboard his yacht, with a dedicated section of the vessel containing tools specifically designed for extracting information through violent means.

Behind the scenes

The initial unveiling of Senator Daho Sejan occurred in the debut trailer for the 2023 video game Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which was revealed on May 27, 2022. Daho Sejan's official introduction took place on April 28, 2023, concurrent with the game's release. TJ Ramini played his character.
