Sevox

Sevox, a male human residing on Andelm IV during the era of the Galactic Civil War, encountered a unique challenge. Due to his body's rejection of cybernetic enhancements, he ingeniously integrated himself into his protocol droid, I-7, after the loss of his eyes, effectively utilizing the droid as his visual apparatus through splicing. Sevox maintained a friendly relationship with Zarro, a young human female who assisted him with various errands. In the aftermath of the Battle of Yavin, he reluctantly permitted Zarro and her Wookiee companion, Chewbacca, to utilize materials from his personal bunker to reconstruct an R5 astromech droid known as "Boomer." This droid, equipped with explosives, played a crucial role in thwarting the criminal mastermind Jaum's scheme to traffic dedlanite to the forces of the Galactic Empire.

Biography

During the Imperial Era, Sevox, a male human of advanced age, made his home on the planet Andelm IV. Having suffered the loss of his eyes at some point in his life, he faced a significant obstacle. His body's inability to accept ocular implants led him to devise an innovative solution: he established a spliced connection with his protocol droid, I-7, effectively transforming the droid into his surrogate eyes via a specialized visor and cabling system. Driven by a deep-seated fear of both the Galactic Empire and the rebellion, Sevox, alongside his droid companion, sought refuge in a concealed underground bunker situated near the Andelm IV spaceport. This bunker also served as a repository for a vast collection of antiquated droid components. Around the time of the Battle of Yavin, Sevox formed an acquaintance with a young girl named Zarro, who regularly performed errands on his behalf.

Following their escape from Jaum's beetle caverns, Zarro, accompanied by her newfound Wookiee ally Chewbacca, sought refuge in Sevox's bunker. Their primary objective was to acquire the necessary components to sabotage Jaum's plot to supply dedlanite to the Empire. Sevox, however, expressed his displeasure, fearing that Zarro's presence could compromise the secrecy of his operations. His apprehension intensified upon Chewbacca's arrival. Despite his reservations, Sevox reluctantly granted Zarro and Chewbacca access to his storeroom, allowing them to procure essential gear and share his provisions. The reclusive Sevox harbored concerns that Chewbacca's presence would expose his bunker's existence to outsiders, viewing Zarro's decision to bring Chewie along as a breach of trust.

Despite his reservations concerning Zarro and Chewie's endeavor, Sevox, accompanied by his droid I-7, journeyed with them to the local spaceport. He permitted Zarro to operate his landspeeder. En route, Sevox received information from his associate Lageose indicating that an Imperial Star Destroyer had entered the Andelm system. Lageose advised Sevox to evacuate Andelm IV. While Sevox expressed pessimism, I-7 proposed that the Empire might possess optic implants compatible with his master's physiology, potentially liberating him from his current predicament. Overhearing this exchange, Zarro reassured Sevox, urging him to cease his worrying, as she and Chewie had formulated a plan.

In response, Sevox characterized Chewbacca's scheme to detonate Jaum's dedlanite reserves as an "insult" to plans across the Galaxy. Zarro maintained that her plan would prove successful, while Chewbacca emitted a frustrated roar, having recently implanted a thermal detonator within the droid's chassis. As they approached the city, Sevox implored Zarro to reduce their speed. Upon reaching the spaceport, Sevox informed Zarro of his intentions to relocate from his laboratory. He offered the laboratory to Zarro and Chewie as a secure hiding place but cautioned them against revealing his name should he be apprehended by the Empire. Sevox then jested that if they were compelled to disclose his identity, they should inform the Empire that he was being enslaved by his protocol droid.

Before parting ways with Zarro and Chewie, Sevox informed the former that he had left behind some credits in his laboratory, contingent upon her retrieval of the optics from an Imperial RA-7 protocol droid, which he held in high regard. Before I-7 piloted the landspeeder away, he cautioned Zarro against allowing the Imperials to perceive her as affiliated with the Rebellion. Sevox and I-7 then retreated into seclusion.

Personality and traits

Sevox was an elderly human male characterized by his white hair and fair complexion. Following the loss of his eyes, his body rejected multiple attempts at optical implantation; consequently, he utilized his expertise in droid repair to integrate himself into the optics of his protocol droid, I-7. Sevox harbored resentment towards his dependence on the droid, and the two engaged in playful accusations of enslavement. He typically wore green overalls and sported a visor over his eyes, connected to I-7 via a cable.

Sevox was a reclusive individual, harboring fears of both the Galactic Empire and the Rebellion. He resided in a bunker that functioned as both his residence and his laboratory. While Sevox maintained a positive relationship with Zarro, he expressed displeasure when she introduced a stranger named Chewbacca into his domain. Despite agreeing to lend them his landspeeder, he doubted the likelihood of Chewie's plan succeeding and subsequently fled into hiding with I-7.
