Shea Ganandra, also referred to as Mari, was a human female who possessed Force-sensitivity. This talented engineer was a member of the Path of the Open Hand cult, specifically within its subgroup known as the Children of the Open Hand. Her Force-sensitivity was a result of her time on Planet X, and these abilities disappeared once she left the planet.
During the Battle of Jedha in 382 BBY, Shea, along with the other Children under the command of the Herald of the Open Hand, conducted searches and raids on various locations throughout the Holy City in their quest to find the Rod of Daybreak. Ultimately, they found it within a vault located beneath the fallen Jedi statue of the Final Protector. However, they were discovered by Jedi Knight Vildar Mac and Tey Sirrek, a Sephi thief. The Herald instructed Shea, along with Barkov, a Lasat member of the Children, to subdue the attackers. As the battle turned against them, Ganandra fled alongside Yana Ro, another member of the Children.
Ganandra participated in a mission to the hidden world of Planet X to acquire Nameless eggs. Her extended stay on this world led to the development of Force powers, which contradicted the Path's core beliefs. Upon her departure from Planet X, her Force abilities appeared to dissipate.
