The Splendour served as the personal vessel of the Besalisk criminal Galus Vez, taking the form of a modified Kom'rk-class fighter/transport. Galus Vez utilized this starship in races against challengers on his private course, known as the Fool's Run. During these races, he would remotely trigger asteroid thrusters from the Splendour in an attempt to steer asteroids into his competitors. Approximately five years prior to the Battle of Yavin, Vez piloted the Splendour in a race against the Twi'lek Hera Syndulla, who was at the helm of the Ghost. Although the Besalisk employed asteroids to hinder his rival, Syndulla's allies leveraged the Force to turn the asteroids against him.
The starship called Splendour was a Kom'rk-class fighter/transport distinguished by its turquoise color scheme. Consistent with other gauntlet fighters, its dimensions were 52.3 meters in length, 52.4 meters in width, and 13.23 meters in height. The spacecraft possessed a passenger capacity of twenty-four and was equipped with a quartet of laser cannons: two positioned at the front and two at the rear. Furthermore, it featured specialized systems designed to remotely activate asteroid thrusters.
During the era of the Galactic Empire, Galus Vez, a Besalisk criminal and the owner of the space station Osisis Station situated in the Regani sector, possessed the Splendour. He employed the ship in contests against visitors to the station on his personal racing circuit, the Fool's Run. This course traversed an asteroid belt surrounding the planet in orbit of Osisis. Integrated into one of the asteroids along the course was a concealed asteroid thruster, which Vez strategically used to propel the asteroid into his racing opponents.
Around five years before the Battle of Yavin, rebels known to Vez visited him, seeking components to repair their VCX-100 light freighter, the Ghost. Vez declined to provide the parts, citing increased Imperial attention to his dealings following prior visits from the group. Instead, Vez proposed a race on Fool's Run against the group's pilot, Hera Syndulla. Victory for Syndulla meant acquiring the needed parts, while a win for Vez in the Splendour would result in him claiming the Ghost. Syndulla accepted the challenge, and the race commenced.

Initially, Vez took the lead while piloting the Splendour, but Syndulla overtook him by executing a series of complex maneuvers. Rather than attempting to match Syndulla's piloting skills, Vez activated the asteroid thruster using the Splendour's systems, propelling the attached asteroid into the Ghost and damaging its stabilizers. The Besalisk regained the lead, only to be slowed when two of Syndulla's comrades—the Jedi Kanan Jarrus and his Padawan Ezra Bridger—employed the Force to direct asteroids toward the Splendour. Disregarding the damage to his vessel, Vez remained confident in his chances of winning, but could only watch in dismay as the Ghost surged past the Splendour, assisted by the astromech droid C1-10P who had boosted its engines. Despite his defeat, Vez reneged on their agreement and attempted to apprehend the rebels for the Empire, but he was ultimately defeated and compelled to relinquish the parts for the Ghost.
The Splendour's initial appearance was in the canon comic strip titled "Ring Race," penned by Martin Fisher and visually brought to life by Bob Molesworth. This strip was featured in the inaugural edition of the Star Wars Rebels Magazine series, released on January 28, 2015.
