Starspeeder 1000
The Starspeeder 1000, also known as the Star Tours Speeder or simply StarSpeeder, functioned as a space-worthy commuter ship utilized by the Star Tours travel company. Its dimensions included a length of 9.36 meters, and it exhibited a box-like shape featuring a front side that sloped downwards, in addition to a minimum of five doors situated on its right (starboard) side. Its propulsion was provided by four engines that emitted a distinctive blue illumination.
In the year 34 ABY, one of these Star Tours Speeders was abandoned at Niima Outpost on Jakku, a desert planet, on the same day that Rey, a scavenger, escaped from the pursuit of the First Order. AC-38, an AC-series pilot droid, at one point piloted a starship of this kind. Following the Sith Eternal's unveiling to the galaxy in 35 ABY, at least a single Star Tours Speeder became part of the fleet that was gathered in response to the call to arms issued by General Lando Calrissian, and subsequently participated in the Battle of Exegol.
Behind the scenes
Jean-Denis Haas, who served as the Associate Animation Supervisor at Industrial Light & Magic, was responsible for incorporating the Star Tours Speeder into the climactic space conflict depicted in the 2019 motion picture Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker. Although it is present in the film, the Star Tours Speeder was initially intended to have a more prominent position within the frame. Its initial appearance was in 2011 within the non-canonical attraction Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, found at various Disney parks, under the designation StarSpeeder 1000. This was in turn based upon the StarSpeeder 3000 featured in the original Star Tours which debuted at Disneyland in 1987.
