Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi is an animated anthology series, consisting of six short episodes that premiered on October 26, 2022. The episodes showcase Jedi characters from the prequel trilogy era; one half of the season's episodes focuses primarily on Count Dooku, while the other half is centered around Ahsoka Tano, with other Jedi appearing as supporting characters throughout the episodes. Dave Filoni is the creator and writer of the series, which features animation in the same style as Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: The Bad Batch. As part of the Tales television series, a follow-up season titled Star Wars: Tales of the Empire was launched on May 4, 2024.
The official announcement for Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi occurred on April 27, 2022, and was included as part of the panel schedule for the Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2022 convention. A specific panel dedicated to Tales of the Jedi took place on May 28, the convention's third day, and was moderated by Amy Ratcliffe with Dave Filoni appearing as a special guest. The series' existence was initially leaked in December 2021 when images of a logo, included on a Christmas gift for Lucasfilm employees, surfaced online. Kevin Kiner, who composed the music for Tales of the Jedi, later alluded to the show, describing it as an unannounced animated project. The series shares its title with Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi, a comic book maxiseries published by Dark Horse Comics within the Star Wars Legends continuity between 1993 and 1998. A promotional trailer was revealed at D23.
