Tak-tak

Tak-tak, a male Whiphid Padawan, was training within the Jedi Order during the period known as the Clone Wars.

Biography

He was a member of the Jedi Order and affiliated with the Bergruutfa Clan.

Clone Wars

Tak-tak and the others are discovered.

In the year 20 BBY, Tak-tak was a passenger on a Mon Calamari starship together with other young Padawans and their Jedi Master, Quarmall. During their journey, their vessel was ambushed by General Grievous and a Separatist fleet. With severely damaged engines, the crew focused on defending their ship. Despite their best efforts, the Mon Calamari crew members were overwhelmed by boarding parties of B1-Series battle droids, led by Grievous.

Quarmall fought valiantly, destroying numerous droids, but was eventually surrounded and confronted by Grievous. The general considered dueling Quarmall, but then stated he was tired of killing Jedi and ordered the droids to kill him instead. The droids opened fire, seemingly killing the Jedi Master. Unbeknownst to them, Quarmall survived, but remained hidden for years.

Grievous, escorted by his droids, ventured deeper into the ship, stepping over the fallen Mon Calamari. He discovered a locked room containing Tak-tak and his fellow Padawans, including Banz and Allara. Grievous activated his lightsaber and took the Padawans as prisoners.

In Captivity

Grievous teaches the Padawans a lesson.

Shortly after, Grievous and the Trade Federation seized control of the planet Gentes and its moon, Belsus. Following a swift and unequal battle, the native Ugnaughts were captured and forced to repurpose their factories for the use of the Confederacy of Independent Systems.

The Padawans were transported to Belsus on a C-9979 landing craft, heavily guarded by B1 droids. While Tak-tak and the others worried, Allara remained calm, and Banz urged them to overcome their fear and face the future bravely. The younglings were then presented to Grievous on a balcony overlooking the city. Grievous declared that they would become his warriors, attempting to convince them that this was not so different from being a Jedi. Allara, however, recognized that this meant serving the Sith and declared they would never do so to the cyborg.

Allara, the strongest in the Force among the Padawans, used telekinesis to pull one of Grievous' lightsabers to herself. She ignited it and destroyed the two battle droids standing beside her. Amused by her defiance, Grievous simply seized her arm and disarmed her. He then carried her to the balcony's edge and dangled her over the side, intending to teach her a lesson. Tak-tak and the others could only watch helplessly. Pointing to a domed assembly hall in the distance, he informed the Padawans that it contained the remaining Ugnaught population of the city. With a command to a ship in orbit, Grievous ordered the crew to fire on the hall, massacring everyone inside. He then asked Allara if she understood the meaning of his power.

Rescue

The Padawans attempt to escape.

The Padawans were subsequently confined to a holding cell four stories beneath the city, where they remained for some time. Allara, determined to escape, encouraged her fellow Padawans to help. She urged them to use the Force to open the door with their combined powers. Tak-tak didn't understand what they were trying to do, for which Allara scolded him. Before they could continue, a stone in the floor shifted, revealing a data probe. Allara, sensing no danger, interacted with the device. The data probe then retreated into the floor, causing the floor to shake and crumble. Tak-tak thought Allara's senses had failed, but an Ugnaught miner emerged from the hole and gestured for the Padawans to follow him. They joined him and another Ugnaught in a long, narrow tunnel, escaping their cell.

The Padawans are rescued by Ugnaughts.

Above them, Grievous revealed to Commander Vulpus his plans for the Padawans. He intended to transform them into versions of himself, complete with limb amputations and organ removals, combining their Force abilities with cybernetic armor similar to his own. He then took Vulpus to the Padawans' cell, only to find it empty. He quickly dispatched a group of B1 battle droids into the tunnel. Allara detected their presence and turned to confront them. Enraged and humiliated, Grievous ordered the Padawans' immediate execution. Facing the oncoming blaster fire, Allara used the Force to collapse the tunnel on the battle droids, destroying them and covering their escape.

The Ugnaughts, anticipating an attack, had recently created caverns beneath their city, stocked with food, shelter, and water. It was here that they brought the rescued Padawans. These hidden homes were dangerously close to flowing magma and the geothermal power plant powering the facility above, and many walkways had been constructed for safe passage. A Zabrak Padawan with the group pointed out that the Ugnaughts believed them to be full Jedi, capable of saving them. Allara told the others that the Force transcends size, and with a smile, she noted that the Ugnaughts were even smaller than them, making them seem like heroes.

Allara duels Grievous.

Just when they thought they were safe, Grievous blasted through the rock wall, furious at the Padawans for betraying his "gift." He descended upon them, lightsabers ignited, followed by battle droids. Banz asked Allara what to do, and she replied that they would fight, defending the Ugnaughts who had saved them. Allara again used the Force to hurl rocks at the droids, allowing the Ugnaughts to escape. Grievous confronted the Padawans on the walkway, intent on killing them, until an Ugnaught drove a bulldozer-like machine into the battle, distracting Grievous. The Padawans fled again, running down a path through the rocks and arriving at the core of the geothermal plant. When Banz asked Allara where they should go, she suggested hiding and forming a plan, but they realized they were trapped. The bridge ahead was blocked by battle droids, and Grievous stood behind them, blocking their retreat.

Allara taunted Grievous, accusing him of demeaning himself by trying to kill them. Grievous asked if she was begging for her life, and she responded that she was asking for a chance. Impressed and amused, Grievous tossed her one of his lightsabers, which she caught and ignited. They began to duel, with Grievous commenting on her courage and lack of skill. Allara was quickly disarmed by the superior duelist. He knocked her to the ground and prepared to kill her.

The Padawans fight their way out.

Unbeknownst to Tak-tak and the Padawans, three other Jedi were on a mission to assassinate Grievous. Jedi Master B'dard Tone, his Padawan Codi Ty, and lone Padawan Flynn Kybo were searching for the general to end his threat to the galaxy. Kybo and Tone had witnessed Grievous's deadly skills firsthand, with Kybo losing his Master and Tone losing his right arm and the left side of his face. The Jedi Council had forbidden this mission, threatening expulsion from the Order, but the three were determined to proceed. With the help of the miners of the Banvhar Combine, who had also suffered from Grievous's actions, the Jedi tracked him to Belsus. Approaching the moon, they detected transmissions about Padawans and believed their mission was compromised. Upon realizing that the Separatists were referring to a different group of Jedi—Allara and the others—they changed their objective to include rescuing the Padawans while also killing Grievous. Master Tone, due to Allara's strong Force connection, was easily able to locate the padawans.

Finding the Padawans, Kybo intercepted Grievous's lightsaber strike with his own. Tone and Ty joined Kybo, with Tone ordering Ty to take the Padawans to safety. Kybo and Tone engaged Grievous in a duel, attempting to complete their assassination mission. Allara, retrieving the lightsaber Grievous had given her, told Ty she would do more than just follow him and joined him in fighting the battle droids. They reached a ladder and hatch, escaping the underground, but as they ascended, Ty sensed his master's death and despaired. Allara urged him to honor Tone's final command and continue, emphasizing that his sacrifice would be meaningless otherwise. In the facility's hangar, they found the Banvhar miners defending their ship, overwhelmed and preparing to flee. The Padawans joined the miners aboard their ship, and they quickly escaped as the facility detonated around them, Kybo's duel with Grievous ending in the ignition of the building's fuel supply. Ty believed that Grievous must have died as well.

Return

Ty returns the Padawans to the Jedi Order.

Ty returned the rescued Padawans to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, bringing Allara before the Jedi Council. Ty recounted the events on Belsus to the Council, emphasizing that he sought nothing for himself despite rescuing the Padawans and believing Grievous to be dead. Allara pleaded for leniency for Ty, but he was prepared to accept his exile without regret. Yoda told Ty that he indeed had much to regret, and banished the young Togruta from the Order permanently.
